After a delay that seemed to be quite annoying to many PC gamers, the 1.2 patch for Rage has finally arrived. The biggest new feature seemed to do with the texture detail problem that caused hassles for many at release:
Texture Detail: Enabling Texture Detail will improve up-close texture quality by performing upsampling with adaptive sharpening. This does not update or increase the resolution of the base textures included with the game but improves the perceived resolution and crispness of textures. This is an intensive operation and is only recommended if you have a quad-core CPU or higher. Please disable this feature if you encounter poor performance, stability issues or are given a notification that the game has run out of memory after loading a map. The Texture Detail option can be found in the Settings -> Video Menu.
The full patch notes, including list of bug fixes, are available
here. If you're interested in checking this game out, make sure you check out our
buy page for the lowest prices (~$24 from ozgameshop).
A Mac version of the game is also available - OS X users can check it out at the
App Store or from
Aspyr (no mention of Steam?).

The game costs USD39.99, charged at AUD41.99 on the Australian Mac App Store. The Mac version is about 13GB, and also only includes the single player part of the game.
Since it's Aspyr that's selling the Mac version, it's not really a surprise that the Mac version isn't being sold on Steam, or that there isn't a Steamplay version available (i.e. those who own the Windows version get the Mac version for free as well via Steam), as is the case with the Call of Duty games, or other Mac-ported Windows titles reworked by Aspyr.

It's great for a quick blast, but you'll be back to playing Age of Empires 3 in no time, it is incredibly short.
