After a delay that seemed to be quite annoying to many PC gamers, the 1.2 patch for Rage has finally arrived. The biggest new feature seemed to do with the texture detail problem that caused hassles for many at release:
Texture Detail: Enabling Texture Detail will improve up-close texture quality by performing upsampling with adaptive sharpening. This does not update or increase the resolution of the base textures included with the game but improves the perceived resolution and crispness of textures. This is an intensive operation and is only recommended if you have a quad-core CPU or higher. Please disable this feature if you encounter poor performance, stability issues or are given a notification that the game has run out of memory after loading a map. The Texture Detail option can be found in the Settings -> Video Menu.
The full patch notes, including list of bug fixes, are available here. If you're interested in checking this game out, make sure you check out our buy page for the lowest prices (~$24 from ozgameshop).

A Mac version of the game is also available - OS X users can check it out at the App Store or from Aspyr (no mention of Steam?).

It's only $41.99 on the Mac App Store which is pretty good considering they are still selling CoD4 for the same price.

The game costs USD39.99, charged at AUD41.99 on the Australian Mac App Store. The Mac version is about 13GB, and also only includes the single player part of the game.
Since it's Aspyr that's selling the Mac version, it's not really a surprise that the Mac version isn't being sold on Steam, or that there isn't a Steamplay version available (i.e. those who own the Windows version get the Mac version for free as well via Steam), as is the case with the Call of Duty games, or other Mac-ported Windows titles reworked by Aspyr.

I wonder if the price would have held up if they had supported this game better.

The main thing that turned me off Rage was you couldn't look around while driving. I uninstalled the game after that. It really killed it for me.

What annoyed me was the game's zones had a set hue to them. Walk into 1 area and suddenly everything is blue. Leave and go into another and then it's all green. This was f*****g s*** and all it did was screw up the shadows making them look horrible.

It's great for a quick blast, but you'll be back to playing Age of Empires 3 in no time, it is incredibly short.

Rage had a f***load of annoying issues but i still enjoyed it more than most games. Just wish the combat was a little more varied but at least it was more entertaining than the latest COD rehash.

I don't think that the guys at ID play games anymore, probably more interested in driving their ferrari's. It's one of those games you wish you could remove from your steam library, it just reminds you to wait and let others take the fall before jumping in yourself. Hate these POS games.
