Blizzard have just announced via their official page that this year they will be hosting a new event, titled "2012 Battle.net World Championship Event".

In light of this new event, Blizzard have decided to withhold the annual Blizzcon event for this year only, which is quite sad as this is usually the time of new announcements and juicy info.
Blizzard Entertainment is proud to announce the 2012 Battle.net World Championship, a major global eSports event featuring some of the best pro-gaming competition in the world.

Slated to take place in Asia toward the end of 2012, the Battle.net World Championship will host this year’s StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship tournaments.

Blizzard gamers and eSports fans from around the world will be invited to attend and witness some of the most skilled pro players on the planet battle it out for cash and glory.
It's no wonder that with 3 major title releases coming out this year (Diablo 3, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria and StartCraft II: Heart of the Swarm) that it would be wise to give full concentration to these titles.

Let's just hope that with this new event that we can still get some new gossip about any of Blizzard's projects, especially the next-gen MMO, Titan.

They have done well to not have any titan details leaked yet...

They're pretty good at not leaking things, I mean they were working on Starcraft 2 for something like 5 years before anyone knew it even existed.

Yeah, how the hell does at least one person not leak any info? It's great that it doesn't happen but I've always wondered how awesome they are at keeping stuff a secret.

Probably because working at Blizzard would be so awesome that nobody there would even risk it a little bit for a little leak. I wouldn't.

Blizzard said from the start of blizzcon, however long ago that was. that it is not a guarantee that it will be a yearly thing. It just so happens that the last few years it has come around every year like clock work.

Think there were no blizzcon between 05-07. theres probably no content to show this year with D3 out and probably HotS nearing completion.
