One month after launching their first and very successful MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Bioware, EA and Lucas Arts are preparing to give players the very first content update, Rise of the Rakghouls.

Launching next week on January the 17th, Rise of the Rakghouls will introduce new, higher level group content, game feature additions and continued balancing and bug fixes. Even better is that Bioware are committed to giving players even more content, stating that coming March, new Flashpoints, Operations, WarZones and new game systems will be introduced into the game.

Rise of the Rakghouls features a new Flashpoint and a new Operation for level 50 characters, which is great thing for end game content and making the game last longer.

Here is just a snippet of the patch notes, for more check out the official page here:
  • Flashpoint: Kaon Under Siege is a completely new and unique group combat experience located on Kaon, a planet in the Tion Hegemony, a strategically important sector of the galaxy that has remained neutral, groups of up to four Republic or Imperial players must race to Kaon to eliminate the Rakghouls outbreak, securing the allegiance of the Tion Hegemony for their respective sides. This Flashpoint will be available for level 50 characters only and will feature Normal and Heroic modes.

  • Operation: Karagga’s Palace, is a continuation of the game’s second launch Operation. In the Operation, teams of 8 or 16 players will face off against Karagga and the Hutt Cartel after the Hutts abandon their famous neutrality and breach agreements with both the Republic and Empire. Concerned by the threat of another combatant in the war for galactic control, both factions send teams of their most powerful heroes to confront Karagga and determine his intentions. This Operation will feature Normal, Heroic and Nightmare difficulty modes.

Don't be a fool, last nights update was purely to point and laugh at us. It is punishment for not waiting to pay Aussie tax and buying the game in Aus when it is released. Smack bang on prime time every time. I'm half expecting them to move the patches to Friday's...

Yes, because obviously they should schedule maintenance in a time that suits the minority, not the majority.

I'm going to laugh (although not very loudly, because I'll probably have started playing by then) when the downtime for the local servers is the same as American one.

they already take down the EU servers at the same time as US. it will most likely be the same for the AUS servers.
