From the official website of Star Wars: The Old Republic comes this announcement about early access starting in the next few days:

Early Game Access* for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ is only a few days away! Starting December 13, 2011, The Old Republic will begin emailing invitations to start your Early Game Access. Invitations will be sent throughout the Early Game Access period offering rolling access to the game in the order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code, so be sure to check your email inbox!

To ensure that players can get into the game as quickly as possible when their Early Game Access begins, we are now allowing everyone who has redeemed a Pre-Order Code at our Code Redemption Center to pre-load the game to their computer.

In order to download the game client before Early Game Access begins, you need have already logged into your account and redeemed your Pre-Order Code. Once you have done this, you can download the game client by clicking on “My Account” in the upper-right of the window and then click “Pre-Order.” On your Pre-Order page, click the large button that says “Download Game Client” to begin download of the game!

While Australians are still suffering under the mystery of what is happening with the local release it seems many people are going to be happy to import this one and get into the game as soon as possible rather than waiting for EA to sort out what is going on over here. promoted/edited forum item

If you have the latest beta client which was used for the 'open beta' weekend then you already have the latest client - so don't uninstall it. It will just need to be patched.

So I downloaded this 30mb downloader, go to install it and it gets half way then vanishes. No error, no warning or anything just *boop* gone. And I'm getting messages on the official site that I can't preorder (though I have through amazon and registered my key) because of the offical stance of "f*** australia". Not looking good.

Ok turns out Fraps and RaedonPro stop the installer working. First time they have ever flat out broken a program for me. Strange. Anyway with 27gb to download looks like it's back to skyrim lol

The official forums and the Whirlpool TOR forums are going ballistic with the info that the games FAQ was updated this morning with the following....

"If I pre-order Star Wars: The Old Republic but don’t purchase or obtain the full version of the Game, may I continue to play past the Early Game Access period?

The Game officially launches on December 20th, 2011 at 12:01AM EST (Pacific: December 19th, 9:01PM PST; European: December 20th, 05:01AM GMT, 06:01AM CET). There will be no ‘grace period’ post launch in which those who are in Early Game Access will be able to continue to play the Game without completing the following required steps for launch:
1. Fill out your contact information
2. Set up minimum 3 - maximum 5 security questions to protect your SWTOR account
3. Redeem a Product Registration Code (This is different from your Pre-Order Code. Your Product Registration Code is the code tied to the official Game.)
4. Sign up for a recurring subscription or enter a Pre-Paid Game Time Code

You will have the option of completing these steps during the Early Game Access period so that you are ready to play upon the Game’s official launch."

No Grace period which flies in the face of what we have been told since July...by mr Stephen Reid...

And US Amazon is apparently sticking with it's 21st to the 29th delivery date even though the European Amazons are stating they will ship the game on the 15th of December.

I wouldn't have cancelled my order...worst case is you cant play for a few days...if you get early access you can get on the server you want and create all your characters even just as placeholders to reserve your name.

No point getting all bent out of shape over it....things can still change....Amazon could send it out around the 15th, there still might be a grace period or Bioware may reinstate one due to the outcry of them not having one....

just my 2 cents...

I would rahter buy the key online and be playing over the xmas break, then play on the weekend for early access and run the risk of being unable to play until early January.

Either way, this is a pretty poor move - if someone has a preorder code at least enable them to play for a week or two prior to kill it.

I'm lost by the big post, is the problem simply "After the 20th of December you need to enter your retail CD key to continue playing" ?

If so, I'm sure Amazon mentioned when I was buying my copy that they would send me the CD key electronically at launch date.

The game is only 18.4Gb not including the 'cache' file located in either 'swtor' or 'betatest' sub folder. If it's larger than that then you most likely have some old 'green_*' asset files hanging around in the 'assets' folder that aren't needed anymore.

It's not on Origin.

On another note if you played the last set of betas and kept the install just update, loader won't log you into the game. I read via the SWTOR forums that you should check your game folder and find the retailclient_swtor.version file, if you have this you will be fine to play at the start (will post a link if I find it).

In preparation for the official release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, we wanted to make sure that everyone has the correct game client installed on their machine.

If you participated in our Game Testing Program before November 25th, we recommend that you uninstall the game testing client (refer to instructions below) and then download and install the launch game client. We’ll update this post with more instructions when they’re available. You will need 27GB of free space to install the launch game client. The actual size of the game client is approximately 19GB (without additional languages installed).

If you have played in our game testing program at any point from November 25th onwards, you will not need to re-install the game client, as you should already have the launch version installed.

To verify that you have the launch version installed, you can check for the "assets_swtor_main" version file in the following location on your computer: \Program Files (x86)\EA\BioWare\Star Wars – The Old Republic (assuming default installation). If you have that file present, you do not need to reinstall the game client.

With that said, some users may notice that their game client folder is much larger than 27 GB on their system. This may be due to having redundant files from previous versions of the client. If you need to clear up space, we recommend completely uninstalling the client and downloading and installing the launch game client. Again, we’ll update this post with more instructions when they’re available.

To Uninstall the Game Client:
Click on the Start bar and open up your "Control Panel."
Under "Programs" select "Uninstall a Program" (Windows 7) or "Add or Remove Programs" (Windows XP).
Select "Star Wars – The Old Republic."
Right Click on the title and select "Uninstall" (Windows 7) or "Remove" (Windows XP).
Follow all the uninstall steps to remove the game from the PC.
Make sure the following directories no longer exists (or are empty):
-C:\Program Files (x86)\EA\BioWare\Star Wars – The Old Republic
-C:\Program Files (x86)\BioWare\Star Wars – The Old Republic

Note: If you do not see an entry for Star Wars – The Old Republic in your program list, please try the following...
Click on the Start bar and open up Computer.
Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\BioWare\
Locate the "Uninstall Star Wars – The Old Republic.exe" file and launch it.
Follow all the uninstall steps, listed above, to remove the game from the PC.

amazon customer servive have been telling people to talk to EA because it's EA that is stopping them from sending it early. EA customer serivce is telling people to talk to amazon because they have no control over when amazon ship the game.

Strange. Cjs don't have any standard + early starter versions left but I can order a normal AND a early starter key seperately for $4 more

EDIT - Because even with express shipping, there is no way it is arriving before xmas and often there is an entire stop of mail until after new year. I don't want to have to wait 2+ weeks for my boxed copy when I can just buy a CD key instead. I already have the game on my PC but just need the CD key to activate it.

pretty sure with the most expensive shipping option it can arrive any time from 24/12 onwards from amazon (minimum shipping time 2 days)

Well cjs is a bust. They don't accept raw credit cards, and the only services they use want me to get an SMS from them before they will let me send my money through. I don't own a mobile. F*** them in the butt.

EDIT - Also because I missed the beta test, I assume there are WoW like servers so which one does everyone play on?

Well I ordered yesterday from CDkeywarehouse (www.cdkey.com.au) - it seems they have run out of keys also - so I just hope my order will get me one quickly enough.

I cancelled my Amazon preorder yesterday too - my code redemption on SWOTR site is still showing a preorder registered, so I wonder if they will purge all invalid preorder codes prior to the early game time - here's hoping they don't!

There is no grace period. If you are wanting to play it over the break then I would strongly recommend buying it from a CD key place. The issue is that they're all being flooded now.

I'm not overly concerned, I got the expedited shipping from Amazon, so it should arrive reasonably quickly. And its couriered not going through the postal system, so it shouldn't get as backed up as mail does over Christmas. Besides, the first week of a new MMO, while its fun being in there at the beginning, is often a laggy mess of server restarts until they balance the load out. At least you can all come here and yell at Stinky if the servers go down :P

Bioware have stated there is no region restriction between EU and US, just time differences on servers. So EU can play on US and vise versa. CJS took about 9 hours to get to me, it will tell you the delivery date on the website. I believe they are out of game+early access, but have plenty of normal early access.

I can see why Bioware would be cancelling the Early Access codes, but currently you can't put a new one on a account that already has it, so if I was to buy the one on CJS, it would be useless. They should just let it be, not gonna hurt anyone.

Which I'm fine with. $2 a month doesn't break me.

It doesn't take a lot of depreciation of the EUR for those prices to fall in favour of EU. We've been gaining on the EUR for 2 years now and I don't see them turning that around anytime soon, do you? There may not be a EUR in 6 months anyway ;)

The USD rate has possibly peaked though? If the EUR wekens much more I could totally see net-savvy buyers of this s*** turning to EU markets rather than US, which is what floating rates are supposed to f*****g do anyway, right?

Yeah I tried that but it said my visa is unverified and they need a moble number to send a pin too. I snaked my mums mobile, tried it, no key came through. Just trying paypal again and hoping thing's don't go south. If they do i'll get the money in a week or so back. Maybe it was just that sellers account having issues that I tried.

I went to a place i've been to twice before and placed my pre-order. Amazingly I think it went through. Must of just been that 1 person's account who wouldn't work with my paypal account. $50 for Digital Deluxe version which apparantly comes with this stuff as well.

Flare Gun: Fires flares into the air.

Had to make a new SWTOR account but got my digital deluxe key, registered it and ready to go. Old account will just rot I guess. Anyone else looking for a good place to buy from, this may be a good start. Used them 3 times now and each time keys have been delivered in a couple of hours (about 2 for this key), without errors and still do work.

Because my amazon keys were still active inside the account and it wouldn't let me register a 2nd set of keys. They may of been deleted later on before launch but i'm impaitent. Wouldn't be a problem for someone who hasn't already gotten a code from amazon.

Just trying to read up about the classes but the official page is always down it seems for maint so buggered if I know where to go. The pages I have found only give extremely vague descriptions of what the clases history is over the SW universe. Useless.

if you try to redeem the game key in origin it sends you to the swtor website to redeem it. I redeemed mine from CJS under https://account.swtor.com/user/codes then refreshed my games in Origin and it appeared.

I think those of us from the beta are going Shadow Hand & Imperial side. The ping during beta was top notch, absolutely no problems at all and sub 250ms for me any time I checked it.

Hoggy - you should be able to grab the client launcher and install using it. I know when I installed the beta client (which is retail) that it used it's own launcher for downloading and not Origin. Link to client is here.

West Coast servers during the last weekend were giving me 150ms - 160ms.

Those that use a tunnel/proxy in wow most of the major providers are going to have support during the early start period.

We (as in my friends and I) will be rolling on Shadow Hand, as that seems to be the server Aussies have taken a liking to, plus it's the one we all played beta on. here's some info about the legacy system. sounds kinda cool

IGN: Can you explain what the Legacy system is meant to be?

James Ohlen: What we're giving at ship is basically just a taste of the Legacy System. It's allowing you to essentially choose your legacy name, essentially your family name. You're creating a family, and you can populate that family with children or siblings, but you can also populate it with friends and henchmen. Even though it's part of a family you can still have aliens or people that aren't actually related to your other characters. This is one of the features that we have a lot of people focused on right now. All the characters in that family tree are going to share the benefits that come from being part of that family and those benefits are going to include new powers, new items, there's going to be a whole bunch of different things that you're able to unlock through the Legacy system.

The inspiration for it is that Star Wars is very much about family, you have the relationship between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader or Anakin Skywalker so that was what started it off. We also wanted another reason to reward players for playing more than one character. If you decide to be the player who plays the Bounty Hunter and an Imperial Agent and a Jedi Knight, you're actually rewarded for doing that because you know they can all be part of the same family tree.

So when does early start.. er start? 2 days?

Yeah, you could create guilds on the website months ago, and set up alliances with other guilds, then before the game launches they lock all the guilds and assign them to servers, trying to make sure that all guilds that have alliances with each other end up the same server. So heaps of big aussie guilds all set up alliances with each other, to try and get assigned to the same server. Server allocations have been released yet, but once they are, I'd imagine whatever server all the aussie guilds ended up on will become the unofficial australian server.

There was tonnes of bounty hunters when I was playing my Sith Inquisitor, probably not quite as many agents, but there was still a lot, theres not going to be any class that isn't "overplayed", so just pick what you want.

Yeah I bet your right. I dunno BH just seems like the class for me. I don't like to tank so merc gives me 2 DPS trees and a healing one. I just love the blasters, rockets, flamethrowers and so on. I take it there is a respec type feature yes?

Flamethrower is really only used by the Power Tech. As a merc you'll get a ton of AE abilities that are better than flamethrower anyway.

I gave the smuggler a good work out in the beta, The cover system made it one of the most unique classes i have ever played in an mmo.

No unofficial server has been decieded yet as Bioware are still to tell the guilds that participated in Biowares guild deployment system what server they will be placed on. The PVE daisy chain of guilds is scheduled to meet tomorrow night at 9pm to come to a decision based on where we are all placed.

I believe the PVP daisy chain is doing something similar...if we are all placed (or majority placed) we will go where Bioware puts us...if not the various guild leaders will deciede what server to roll on, and it will probably deteriorate from there...lol.

Once Bioware tells us where they are deploying the guilds decisions will be made pretty quick after that...I will post in this thread as soon as I know what the PVE daisy chain does.

Well the PVE daisy chain seems to be split across 2 servers...The Harbinger and The Jekk'Jekk Tarr, though I tthink their are a few others as well but it seems the bulk is on those 2.

Tonights Ventrilo meetting will be very interesting...I can see it easily turning into a s***fest,,,the general consensus of as this morning is maybe to have both those servers as the unofficial PVE servers.

Will post when I know more.

PvP servers are too frustrating to level up on, I used to play WoW on a pvp server, but I got over it a few years ago. World PvP doesn't seem to be too special in ToR anyway since on all the planets I played, republic and imperials didn't have many quests in the same areas, they had their own separate areas, so you didn't see people from the other side very much anyway. If you get bored, go play a Warzone, the pvp will be more fun and you get rewards for it.

They usually share the same main city on each planet, but the questing areas (apart from a few of the heroic quests and such) seem to be separate areas. It might change in the higher like 40+ zones, but I didn't get that far.

And you can't even go to the other side's areas a lot of the time, like on Tatooine when I was imperial and tried to go to the republic areas, I got killed by a sandstorm.

My only fear is that it has a cool name, so heaps of people will flock to it giving us huge queue times. That being said, there was some statements that their servers can handle s*** tonnes of people due to their zone-instancing (and the queues in the stress tests weren't that shabby, so who knows?).

But yeah, I joined a US server to play with a friend after LK came out and, other than weekends, it was a barren wasteland of pointlessness if you wanted to group for anything.

I'm confused about this early access thing.. I have it on my account (from my Amazon pre-order) but then I cancelled that however the subscription is still there. I go to add the CD key received from DGK and it says I can't add a second copy of the same game.

Can't login yet either and I'm sick which was going to be a totally awesome day of sitting at home playing SWTOR.

ticman, they are inviting people into the early access in waves. the earlier you preordered the game, the earlier you get access. also your amazon preorder code is still active, that's why the new code wont work. if you want to use that new code you will have to make a new account like i did.

DGK told me in an email that they will be sending keys out on release date when they get them. Also far as I know you can still use your current account and when the time rolls around to input your key, it'll upgrade to whatever version the key is tied to. I originally ordered in July but my pre-order code got f***ed up and attached to the wrong account. By the time I realised that it was November, ordered another copy to get another pre-order key (figure I can sell the game to someone when I get it), but I'm probably going to get f*** all early access. Customer support was utterly useless at helping me as well, after 3 attempts all I managed to get was a canned response about how they can issue me a new pre-order key if I'm having trouble redeeming mine. All I wanted was for them to honor the original date I pre-ordered :(

Went above and beyond and ordered the special colletctor's edition of the game and now I get completely screwed because of it. Thanks EA.

I pre-ordered ageeees ago on Amazon. The no subscription notification isn't a bug, it will disappear when you get invited. I didn't receive a email, just logged on and found I could play. Servers are chockers though, but no real lag issues so far. Feels more polished then beta to, which is surprising considering beta was so well done.

so i pre-ordered off amazon.com - entered my early access code into my swtor.com account and was happily waiting for my invite.

now my swtor.com account doesn't appear to have remembered that i've entered that code and when i try to re-enter it it tells me the code is in use -.-

don't have more than one swtor or origin account so i have nfi what has happened. guess i'll be chatting with EA support tonight :(

I originally preordered from Amazon in July. I redeemed the code on the 28th of July and I didn't get in today. Amazon are apparently going to be shipping the game early for everyone but I canceled and bought through a CD key site anyway.

They are testing server capacity. Early access is really only to get s*** sorted, figure out what server you want to be on and make some characters for name sake. Otherwise it's going to be like all other MMO launches, and have lag everywhere.

Yes, TOG decided to stick with The Jekk'Jekk Tarr server for our PvE guilds. At least the meeting was (mostly) civil and the consensus was to have two Oceanic based servers.

apparently people that have EU keys are seeing subs in US$. guess the keys aren't region specific.

also on the pvp servers you can create both imperial and republic characters.

The staggered launch only achieves reduced load in the starting areas. Which I get.

But may I suggest that calling early access was a poor choice, if they had called it a pre-release public beta, inviting people randomly to join it, then on say the 2nd last day announce hey we are letting people keep their toons. The public perception would have been significantly different to the current 200 threads of bioware renegging on grace time statements, and the whole people feeling entitled to pre-release access and being denied.

Also the level 30+'s are exploiting war zones allegedly.

DM, I don't think they were backtracking, it's always been very clear - at least from what I had seen - that the early access was always based upon when you registered your game...It was 5 days - and then changed to 7.

I'm in the awkward position of having the game - but not wanting to play it because everyone else I know is waiting to get in! Still, I think it was the right decision...do I think 7 days is a little excessive? Sure. But what's done is done and as I said before they have been pretty transparent with the whole early access thing the entire time.....unlike the Grace Period issue.

They announced they will start shipping on the 15th. Strangely US customers will get priority.

International folks for the most part are being told it will be shipped on the 19th... if you get lucky you might get it on the 24th otherwise I would expect 28-30th.

Which is pretty fruity Amazon logic. The fastest delivery US purchases will probably be at the customers on the 16th... 4 days ahead of the cut off.
If they did the international on that day we might have them by the 20th, only a might. If the same day US folks had to wait to the 17th, they'd still have them 3 days before they needed them. oO

It has always been clear, since the first time I put my pre-order code into SWTOR website, that I could get minimum 1 day early access. No where did it say I'd get the full 5 days, which was then extended to 7 days, of early access. This is probably the smartest "launch" I have seen for a MMO. Why risk servers exploding, huge queues and just headaches everywhere, when they can stagger the amount of people going in, get servers sorted, get people sorted etc.

Also, everyone is forgetting how bad the glorious king of MMO's went on it's launch day. I waited half a day to get onto Silvermoon. Half a f*****g day. And then put that with quests bugging out in the starter area, NPC's disappearing, the old loot bug which can still happen mind you, mining nodes disappearing, terrible class balance (paladins lol), crafting skills that were just useless or broken, and above all, the terrible lag. I would constantly get 10,000MS+ on the initial week of WoW. That's if I could get into the server, which went down half the time.

You mean the first year of it's life. The amount of times they were forced to do emergency maint, fix broken servers, have servers go down for multiple days at a time and so many more problems. Even some of those issues were still around 2 years after.

At least this time before I get invited gives me time to finish skyrim.

It's going to be interesting to see how they go about punishing them. To the best of my understanding the exploit consists of queueing for a warzone. That's it.

The game then puts you into a warzone (battleground) shortly after it decides that there aren't enough people in there and terminates it, rewarding every participant with full XP as if they had achieved victory.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. If i'm correct then players queueing for warzeons is going to be hard to punish, you could claim that there are people queueing match after match after match for hours on end and that they are clearly exploiting. They could of course just be playing a newly launched MMO and looking for PvP but are having trouble getting it because they have managed to stay at the head of the leveling curve in a rush to PvP and are having trouble to find other players to compete with because NONE OF THEM ARE ALLOWED INTO THE GAME YET.

That and a lot of other players will be cruising along just enjoying the story based first 10-20 levels.

So, while they're calling it an exploit, it's really something that shouldn't of slipped through the copious amounts of testing they did.

Reminds me of one of the battlefields that was crashing just after launch as soon as the server browser was populated with over 100 servers. This was something they never came across in closed testing because they never had 100 servers running.

Originally it was released on 20th, shipped 21st, delivered between 23rd and 28th. (which is lawls since the 24th to the 27th will basically be no mail/delivery days with weekends and public holidays. And a rather large backlog on the 28th meaning it would only be a 50% chance of getting jack s*** on that day.

The new improved Amazon delivery dates ?
Shipped on the 19th. Expected delivery date 21-27th. In reality them shipping it 2 days earlier I rekon means I will still get it on the exact same day. 28th or 29th. But who knows maybe they have some how worked out to ship something in under 4days from the US... I haven't ever experienced it with amazon before (usually at least 7 days).

If you have already put in a pre-order code from amazon, you can't get rid of it. So far it turns out (at least I think) all pre-order codes give the same thing. early access and the colour stone. The only way to get anything extra is to input your actual cd key which then bumps your account to standard, digital deluxe or whatever else.

Yeah taggs I did.

Having used it before, my experience was picked up on the day, then got processed the next day got to an international airport late that night, spent a solid day in transit, spent a day sitting in some facility in Australia, then delivered the next so about 4 and a half days.

Must be a bunch of people cancelling.
The collector's editions are available again for $149, and from Amazon.

So far having the most fun with imperial agent. still deciding on sniper or operative (since i kinda wanna heal but dont like melee in this game). Just wish I had a super cute companion for the final person I pick up. Oh well. Playing a good guy on sith side (Seri if anyone here wants to invite to a guild) on that swiftwhatever pvp server. Love the server pings. Why can this game maintain a steady 220 - 250ms but wow even the the most unpopulated area can't break 500?

Yeah, and I remember one of the reasons they gave for not releasing it in our region was because they couldn't guarantee a good experience so they were waiting for more server infrastructure or some s***. Its already a better experience than most of the other MMOs out there that people from Australia have played for years!

Nagle's. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wow forces this in their game's network stack to ensure an optimal experience for people who live close to the server. Low ping services remove this problem as the relay server is close to the game server.

With Bioware wanting (or at least explicitly allowing) EU clients to connect and play on US servers this was probably a network design decision.

That said, the end result for Australians is the same, TOR feels like a better / less laggy game.

You're wrong hogfather (but you won't believe that). You can still gain a slight improvement by messing around with TCPAckFrequency. But it is kind of minor.

Nagle has been disabled since 2.something around 2007.

Low ping services do nothing for me on Telstra (I get a steady 220-240), but on Optus where traffic gets shapped, it made a huge difference because it was getting classed as a different level of traffic (nothing to do with blizzard, or nagle, or anything other than Optus).

A quick update on today's invites, and a little preview of tomorrow.

Today, we invited people who had pre-ordered up to the very beginning of October (roughly). Tomorrow, we're going to be inviting the same number of people again; that will take us up to the last week or so of November. On Friday, we'll be inviting even more, and we'll give you an update on that tomorrow.

You'll see more servers coming online tomorrow, and almost certainly there will be some queuing. That was always expected. As a reminder, our plan here is to maintain healthy server populations post launch, and during the excitement of launch that will mean queues. That said, we'll be working hard to keep those queues reasonable.

We'll check back in tomorrow with another update.

The Jabba the hutt part to that video was one of the best things i have ever seen that was made by a fat guy.

Also I managed to grab one of the CE off amazon when they went on sale again today, they were only up for about 30minutes.

Going by the SWTOR.com faq I will be able to enter a SE key then upgrade it to CE key when I get it.

I'd normally just wait for it to arrive but i've booked leave for next week and i cbf spending time with my actual family.

So far I like Sith Inquisitor, Dialog for it is cool. Bounty Hunter is also cool. I still dislike the Clone Wars cartoon style of the characters but dialog and stuff make up for it. I seem to get 250 or so ping, smooth as can be considering California is 11,000 klicks away.

Reduced network latency by disabling the Nagle algorithm.

Then in 4.1 they gave you the option of turning it back on. That's what the "Optimize network for speed" option is, (it's on by default ie. nagle is off when it's on). But it also does more s*** as well (it sends a lot more data).

4.1 patch notes

Added a network category to the new Options screen and included the two network checkboxes.
The Network category contains the options "Optimize network for speed" and "Enable IPv6 when available". "Optimize network for speed" will be enabled by default, and will send packets more frequently at the cost of higher bandwidth. The higher bandwidth may lead to disconnects for some players who have limited bandwidth. Players getting disconnected frequently should try unchecking this box.

Now possibly you could turn off optimize for speed, and tunnel and you'd get the best of both worlds ? Less traffic and no nagle. But that's only a nissue if you are somehow capping your download rate.

At any rate, if you are getting better performance with a tunneling service now it's because your ISP is at some level f*****g you around, or possibly they just have ssh traffic at a really high priority.

Optus for certain have non web, non ssh international traffic shaped. It was massively noticeable in Rift and WoW. Rift in particular would be 1000+ pings with out tunneling, with tunneling it'd be 300ish.

I mentioned discussions with Ticcles who was the guy who came up with the lowerping services. It was originally designed to target Nagle's, but probably also solve other problems. I also mentioned in my very first post that I could be wrong, and it looks like Wow no longer rolls with Nagles (at leats they say so).

BTW loads of Queues on West Coast servers. Harbinger (the unoffical Aus PVE) is 50min+

All PVE queued, PVP 1 not queued.
RP and PVP-RP have a few options.

Just got booted off Swiftsure while I was doing some stuff and clicked immediately to get back on and am now faced with a queue of 600 with a ~40min wait time.

stinky - please remove 599 people from Swiftsure queue.

Also, if you want anti-aliasing, you need to edit the settings file (C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings\client_settings.ini) and add the line:

AntiAliasingLevel = 4

to the [Renderer] section of the file.

It works with nvidia cards, but theres mixed reports of it working with ati cards, but apparently forcing the AA on in the catalyst control panel works for ATI cards.

Caught up with a mate last night and watched him play for awhile. First thoughts is that this s**** all over Wow.

Everything looks so polished and all the tedious boring crap isn't there and there's a STORYLINE!

If I wasn't so busy i'd consider playing this.

I'm not attached to the server but I reckon queues will be inevitable for the next month anyway once the game is publicly released. It always tapers off after a couple of weeks when people start to regulate their play time, the infrastructure teams squeeze a little bit more juice out, etc.
