Google are having a sale on the Android marketplace. There are a few programs up for sale for AU$0.10. There will be 10 new apps each day for the next 10 days in celebration.

Interesssting. I've always wanted to give minecraft a spin (well I played the old demo once), and have always wondered how buying anything on phones works (presuming it goes to the carrier and then phone bill or something..), and for 10 cents can't really go wrong... I can't believe I'm even sitting here debating this with myself. :P

edit: Ftr have to enter credit card details, minecraft graphics and framerate on my galaxy s are fairly mindblowing.

They both have pros and cons. Swype is alright, most of the time, but some people prefer the predictive text (similar to iOS) that swiftkey gives you.

The games aren't too bad. I got Fieldrunners and Great Little War Game. At 10cents they're a steal.

it seems like you should be able to sign in and set everything up early, as long as you havea a gmail account. For example; i am here: https://market.android.com/

and only signed in with my gmail account.

Minecraft is a very stripped down version. Cool for 10 cents, and I guess will probably receive the updates in the future.

The car game is a 500 mb download, but pretty good.

The all-white drawing app seems to reveal where the clock and the old battery symbol (before the OS update) had burned into the top of my screen. I also just learned that Galaxy S will not work with any sort of home object stylus since it requires being able to make a current or somesuch, though you apparently can get pens for that.

i reckon the sgs2 is slightly better in usability, but depends on if you want a slightly larger screen or a few other setup options...- this video seems comprensive, if a bit slow: http://vimeo.com/31589401 Nexus might be better if you rely heavily on google stuff like talk and gmail et al.

Your card should just be stored and used the second time around. Its a couple of clicks per item for me to buy something, but buy all would certainly have been a nice touch.

also it wouldn't let me use my Amex. It let me enter it, then after I hit buy, it said something about not being a valid card, then made me re-enter all my details again for a different card. Annoying, and then I had to hit 'buy' on each one!

So I bought all of those except Asphalt and the kids drawing game. Unfortunately I don't have room for most of the games, but the Paper Camera app looks pretty cool for doing simple stylzed stuff quickly and easily!

Hrm mine didn't, though it did initially charge $2 which I presume was intended to fill up some sort of e-wallet buffer thing, but due to still being pending meant that the followup 10c charges still came through direct.

Checking it out now, will update.

Edit - It's actually one of the first games I've really felt the touch controls work perfectly. You tap the screen to rotate the block, drag down to speed the block up, and hold and move to obviously move around the grid. I can still do all the Tetris tricks like getting a block right down to the bottom then slotting it in. Very cool game, can see many hours being wasted.

I wouldn't say the controls are terrible. But I am finding the turning the blocks maybe not as responsive as I would like. But for $0.10 I don't think I'll b****...but it's EA...so I think I will b****!

Ha, Game Dev Story is alright (got it ages ago) but the lack of information while playing and broken english make it a bit wierd and hard to get a full understanding of.

Install Cyanogenmod. It allows moving anything to the SD card.

The only games I buy for android are any Kaikosoft (Game Dev Story, Grand Prix Story, etc) Or Gamevil (Zenonia series) games

Today was better. The Age of Zombies game is f*****g awesome, have wanted to get it for ages but didn't wanna pay full price. Apparatus is also wincakes. Love me a good puzzle game on my phone. Didn't bother getting the others, though the panoramic photo one looked alright, the comments turned me off a bit. Might still grab it.

I bought Jenga but apparently had no room to install (as best I can tell, there's at least a gig on the phone's storage, and many more on the SD card). Now the only option seems to be to buy it again, even though I've been charged... That's 10 cents damnit.

whoa wat? I've been buying stacks of stuff that I can't install because I don't have the room - it all jus gracefully bounces saying I can't install it, and then I can install it again later from the Market for no charge.

Weird, it shows up as bought on market.android.com, I previously tried installing it from there (have done that with a few) and it gave an unknown error, but this time it started the install, said there was no space, and now I have the option to install it from my phone. /complicated

I have nfi how the market->phone sync works, as far as I know the only way to do stuff like that is having the phone poll the server constantly, and it seems to be pretty instant.

seriously though, some people find turning it off (and taking out the battery) and turning it back on again sometimes fixes it.

seriously though, some people find turning it off (and taking out the battery) and turning it back on again sometimes fixes it.

This is generally the first thing I do.

Today is the final day! The disney games are f*****g awesome. Wheres My Water and Puffle Launch are awesome.

Majestiy and Hyper Jump are also pretty awesome. Though Majesty really needs to be played on a tablet.

Woo, just smashed the first level of majesty, found out after that I was ranked 120 thousandth of all players or something. The hovercraft one is fun, seems impossible to steer well though.
