Paying for a beta app, interesting. Worked once. Also, what the hell is at Minecon that is worth a $99 ticket price.

It's unusual for a mobile game to cost more on iOS than on Android.

I really don't see the appeal of having it on your phone. The controls are a bit meh, and lack of mod support really makes it dull.

I'm assuming that minecraft is getting released at some stage today?

Is it? I recall angry birds being paid via advertising and free on android.

Yeah, but that's a bit different, since one is ad-supported and one isn't.

Seriously though, what the hell do they do at Minecon? What is there to do with only 1 game from the company? Do they have other companies there? Are they showing off Scrolls?

love how they have a minecraft convention when the game isnt even near being finished... despite them removing the 'beta' word from their main page.

what a f*****g joke.

Looks like there is no official mod support either. Waaaaah.

Posted 04:28pm 19/11/11
Sooo, in other words Carson, they sit around playing 1 game, and watching dudes talk about 2 other games in development, and not being able to play them? Also if the no mod support is true, he truly has killed the game, because I doubt he'll bother fixing or adding stuff to Minecraft now that it's "done".
carson
Posted 05:47pm 19/11/11
I reckon Eorl.

Well after playing it, it's still VERY far from finished. Sheep don't regrow hair, experience is just as useless as it was in beta (no abilities or anything), no official mod support, the water is boring and empty (it's just squid still) the NPCs in NPC villages are s*** and don't do anything.

It's pretty bulls***. Would much rather it stayed beta and they fix the s*** they had in game first, then add more later. No official mod support s**** me off the most though.

Pretty disappointed. If I bought it now (as it's full price now) I would be pissed as it's still pretty much a beta build.

Ouch, ah well, it got a 10/10 though! I do have to say, I got my monies worth, it's just sad to see a developer become so successful, then practically say f*** you to the people who helped him. Only problem with indie developers, they get a taste of money and don't know when to stop.
carson

I agree, to an extent. I mean I got my monies worth, and then some. But I wouldn't recommend anyone get the game now (for the full price) with how it is at the moment. It still feels, and plays, like a beta.

I just wish that they kept it in development mode longer and deliver on what he said he would! Not release it with some stuff incomplete or missing entirely!

I don't know if he has really let the popularity go to his head (Notch), as he said he takes full responsibility for the lack of mod support. I reckon it's a bit of a cop out though, rather than release a half finished product, they should have just pushed the release date back further and finish half the s*** they started.

Gonna be interesting to see how long it takes to deliever on half the s*** that I was expecting at full release.

Well, with the way it's going, I don't think Scrolls will be as popular. I've never liked virtual card games, you feel like you have gained nothing really. Like my MTG cards in my hand thank you very much!
WetWired
Posted 07:20pm 19/11/11
yeah it has so much potential and it feels like they've made 0 progress

imagine being able to make a ship that you can captain and explore new worlds, krakkens and pirates and s*** that can attack you so you have to prepare before leaving and in multiplayer get a few of you together to man the thing. New lands are completely different biomes with different enemies and resources, which you can trade and sell at server controlled stores.

Well, here is the truth

No more big updates. Small things as Jeb is now the "leader" of Minecraft. Ah well, my hope lasted a little bit. So much rage on the Minecraft forums haha.

experience is just as useless as it was in beta (no abilities or anything)

You use experience to enchant tools, weapons and armour at an enchanting table.

When the official mod sdk is released someone needs to make a mod that allows people to use a basic scripting language to create Minecraft structures kinda like what the Second Life scripting language uses to create object behaviours.

Then make it so that it's easy to let people save and share the script files so copying buildings out of one world and into another. Is possible without hacking the world data files.

Of course there's probably already a mod that does this, I'm just too lazy to trawl through the forums and find out.

Edit:
oops, no announcement of a mod api/sdk is balls. If mojang are planning to shelve minecraft after making their squillions then it'd be an awesome gift to the community to throw the source code up on github and let others hack away at it.

That's all well and good, but he goes straight on to talk about pjs. I don't want friggen pjs, I want official mod support!

I also get that Notch himself might be a bit fatigued from Minecraft and want to do other things. But like I said earlier, the fact they have released a half finished game with half finished concepts and things missing yet keep adding more stuff before they fix the other stuff s**** me right up the wall!
