AusGamers is currently walking the massive halls of BlizzCon in Anaheim, California, where the publisher-developer finally revealed the next expansion for World of Warcraft, Mists of Pandaria.
We're about to catch the panel for the game live, so check back shortly for a more detailed run-down of what to expect, but primarily at the moment, what we know is that an all-new realm is being introduced long with a new race, the Pandaren. There's also a new Monk class, a new level cap of 90, a new Dungeon Challenge Mode and Pet Battle Mode.

there are a few panderan easter eggs in wc3 if you bother to blink into the right places.. but i think blizzard didn't think of kung-fu panda first, only panda's and they already had a world filled with war, so it was natural they faught. But never specifically kung-fu. at least to my knowledge

They were actually pretty far through with them in BC, they had the models made, props for them, a starting area, and eventually decided to shelve them till they could do them better justice. They've always been intending on having them in WoW since Warcraft 3 according to Chris Metzen.
I was a bit "wtf" at first also, but the more I hear them talk about it, the more its obvious they're taking it pretty seriously and it isn't just some jumping the shark goof around of an expansion. In fact, I'm more excited now about this expansion than I was for Cataclysm at the same time in it's development cycle.

I love the sound of it.

When did they say that? Because everything else they've said is the complete opposite of that. In Chris Metzen's words "Theres no way we'd build a WoW expansion about an April Fool's joke". Just cause they've been used as a joke in the past, doesn't mean the expansion is a joke, they're doing a real job of it. I think people are just doing what people always do, and reacting in a knee-jerk way without getting any details.
Also, just hearing people the developers talk about it, their passion and excitement for it comes accross, more than it ever did for Cataclysm imo. I think thats a large part of what sold me in the end. Plus it just looks damn fun!
