It looks like the wheels are still in motion on a potential Assassin's Creed film as movie news site
Variety is reporting that Sony Pictures has it sights set on a deal with Ubisoft to bring it to the screen.
Although it's a little vague, the article appears to support the notion that the newly formed Ubisoft Motion Pictures is looking to partner up with an established studio rather than take on the whole project independently
Because "Assassin's Creed" has been one of Ubisoft's higher-profile titles, with its iconic hooded hero and lavish cinematic sequences that unfold in between gameplay, the company is looking to turn it into a major tentpole at megaplexes, which would mean Sony would likely co-produce and co-finance the production instead of Ubisoft footing the entire bill.
Let's hope that Ubi's continued direct involvement means this will be one that can break out of the rut of mediocre game to movie adaptations.
The latest game in the Assassin's Creed franchise, Assassin's Creed: Revelations is due on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 15th 2011 with PC pegged to follow on December 1st.

If the movie has Ubisoft involvement and they maintain creative integrity, then it could be a good movie, kind of like Prince of Persia is linked to the games but not.
Would prefer a Thief movie myself given the choice that it would be done well/right.
