Over the weekend, a blog post went up on the Green Man Gaming website indicating that they were removing Electronic Arts games from the store, unless you lived in the UK. The blog post has since been pulled, but most of the EA games I can see - including Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, and others - are no longer available for Australians, displaying the message "Unfortunately this product is not yet available in your region. Please check our FAQ for more details.

GMG have apparently since posted to Facebook that they will be honoring sales made up until this change (reinforced by this comment on reddit, although it is hardly authoritative), although it seems now references have been removed, and all that is there is:
We'll be addressing the main questions everyone has shortly, in the meantime we've had to consolidate all the many questions from all the different places where customers can talk to us as we've been a bit overwhelmed today. Apologies for having to remove posts and questions which we obviously hate doing in order to get it all sorted this afternoon. We'll be happy to answer questions very soon!
They're currently under a bit of fire from users on their Facebook page about the lack of available information on this issue. Their FAQ doesn't include any real information yet either.

If you have ordered BF3 or anything else from GMG we'd definitely be interested in hearing anything you get from them on this issue!

I never understood regionalising services like this. Why stop people from buying a legit version of your game? I was going to buy BF3 from GMG but I guess I can't now. Great. F*****g EA f*****s.

There was a comment from GMG on reddit (at least, they claimed to be), which I think said that, as likely as it would seem, this wasn't EA's fault, it was theirs, or a 3rd parties. I'll see if I can dig it up.

edit: here we go.
To clarify:

All sales we took will be totally 100% honoured from both a technical support perspective and actually getting the keys / games!

We had to take to the blog post down to the wording of the post because we actually get our EA titles through a third party distributor of games and it was unfair on us to involve EA in our mistake. Trust me, of all the things Reddit like to bash EA about, this one's on us, guys. Apologies.

(I work for GMG)

Isn't it obvious? So you have to buy it at an inflated price.

The real question is whether this method is more profitable when taking into account lost sales and piracy.

Yeah, they posted it on their facebook page too, no EA games outside the UK, but they'll honor any sales made before they made the change.

Never head of GMG up until now. How does return digital copies work? You relinquish your key and they give you credit and then someone gets your old key?

No, they just give you credit for giving the game back, but not at the full price. Likely to get 25-30% of the price back in credit.

I was super excited to get BF3 through them, as I've got $55 credit at the moment, but sad to see that :( I tried using a VPN to buy it, but the site seems to be getting hammered. I have found http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/DD-BF3UK/battlefield-3-limited-edition-uk who are selling it for pretty much $50, and they to have a credit system where you buy a game and you get these blue points or something. Anyways, the funny thing is they are UK based as well, and have no restriction on their part.

Jeez it says they have to advertise it in British pounds and the price is £39.99 or $63.50 AUD. $10.50 more than the physical LE version from Oz Game Shop... it also comes from the UK. Seems like GMG got screwed on this one.

Poor GMG. They had so much potential but THE MAN steps in to ruin things for us.

EA were still making their profits, just not the huge profits they make with Australia's regional price structure.

Crazy stuff.

the keys still have to come from ea so the third party is obviously getting them cheaper. sounds like ea use regional pricing for retailers too...

Oh come on now. There's nothing wrong with paying inflated prices to subsidise all those poor Americans and Russians (and just about anyone else whose economy is in the toilet) who can't afford to buy the game at normally overinflated prices. After all every Australian is rich beyond their wildest dreams!

They have placed a blog post up here regarding why EA is no longer being sold outside the UK. Apparently their supplier, Ztorm, isn't allowing them to sell outside the UK. Which is beyond retarded, as GamersGate is selling all EA titles free of region locking, and they are a UK based company as well. Ah well, I'll just use my credits on Batman or something...

why would the supplier care where it's sold?
trog

The supplier presumably has a geographical limit on where their products can end up; I assume it's just part of their regionalisation efforts and thus is completely unsurprising.
