The Battlefield 3 open beta has kicked off and although the dedicated PC servers can only officially be operated by EA-approved providers, that hasn't stopped some eager players from setting up their own hacked servers for the beta, a move DICE warns could net you a ban from Origin if it looks like your account has been compromised as a result of joining in on the unofficial fun.
"Please avoid temptation and remain on these official servers while we work to have these servers dealt with,"
wrote DICE's Bazajaytee.
"Playing on those servers can cause your account to become compromised, stats to be altered or other issues to arise which may lead to having your account banned by EA. If your account gets banned it does mean any EA game you have on your account would also be unavailable."
As a talking point, how is everyone finding the official servers to play on, and the beta overall?

Lazy idiots - why is this the fault of the player (who just clicks on a server to join).

However I think it is just fluff and they wont actually ban anyone bar those who are easily seen as deliberately doing it, even then I doubt it.

So they're getting all evil for nothing, it's quite pathetic and annoying.
It's like watching a good old friend slowly dying of being a f*****g a******...

Stick to servers you know are legit. If in doubt, don't join it. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

It's like you copied this from a "Is this a scam" thread. It's a game!
Posted 01:41pm 10/10/11
if there is no way to distinguish what is a genuine and what is not a genuine server, they shouldn't be trying to enforce that rule
Posted 01:43pm 10/10/11
I agree EA aren't really doing a very good job of handling it, but its really not that big of an issue if people just exercise a little bit of common sense in the first place
Posted 04:19pm 10/10/11
EA saying chose 1 door; 2 of them are official and 1 of them is unofficial, they all look the same but the unofficial door has a shotgun aimed at your nutsack triggered to go off with the slightest turn of the door knob :/
gg EA keep up the wonderful PR you have going with your customers....

While its a pretty extreme reaction from EA, I still think its pretty stupid for the players to be shunning any responsibility and putting the blame entirely on EA. Its like fat people blaming Mcdonalds for being fat, or opening an email that is obviously dodgy looking and getting a virus then blaming the email client.

So being the fact the the Battlelog is provided by EA and it is the one listing illegal sites with not indication that they are legit. Again good luck... I don't run a reference check on sites listed by a tool provided by EA.
As for your mc donalds... it is like walking into a Macca's and being served by someone in a Macca's uniform... paying them and then they run out the store with you money... Now that is my fault for not knowing that person was not a genuine employee.... strange..
