At a recent event in Las Vegas, EA have released new details about the forthcoming Syndicate revival from Starbreeze Studios. Unfortunately we don't have any new details beyond the initial announcement to share just yet, but we do now have the surprisingly close release date of February 24 2012 (three days after North American).

The game is in development for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and although it wasn't clarified as to whether all platforms are due to launch on this date, EA have had a rather good track-record recently with simultaneous releases.

Keep your eyes peeled for more details in the coming months, as with a release date so close, EA are bound to lift the veil off this one soon. For everything else we know so far, swing by our Syndicate game page.

Wow that soon? Didn't they only announce it like a month ago?

Just because they say its being released next year doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't been in development beforehand for longer

The rumours had been floating around for a while: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/199521/ea-at-work-on-new-syndicate/ I'm more worried by the fact that it wasn't shown at E3 or GamesCom.

I don't think that's cause for concern at all. The major tradeshows get a bit silly with reveals and announcements and a lot of good stuff can get lost in the noise. I imagine press will still have ample opportunity to check it out in more localised events leading up to launch.

I'm actually really liking this new trend of publishers announcing some games when they're almost cooked, even if Syndicate itself was a really poorly kept secret.

Same. It's like Apple's process of announcing stuff and then being able to order it like 2 days later, instead of the usual approach where you have to wait a billion years before it's available, and then another billion before it's available in Australia.

It seems out of character for EA to miss an opportunity to build hype though.

Must be a good game then, if the hype is no where near as big as MW3.

It's like a fat guy turning down free pizza. Expecting this to be another origin exclusive, along with every other EA game from now on.

Some sort of teaser trailer:

Just by itself, the game looks like it might be alright but it's obviously a bit disappointing they chose the fps route as a primary successor to the original. I do, however, have a sinking feeling that, based on the sluggish aiming and quicktime combat events, it's probably just gonna be a quick cash grab through consolification and by relying on the name to garner up interest to milk as much money out of an old, unused IP as they possibly can (which leads me to doubt how well the game will be put together and probably not bother purchasing it if it's an origin exclusive).

But EA wouldn't do that.

God I hope the actual game doesn't have that awful soundtrack. But it looks like it could be a fun game, I'd expect it to be a decent game with Starbreeze making it, totally shouldn't be a Syndicate game though.

^^ hes kinda a big deal with the kids today

Diminutive big-bass obsessive Skrillex has released his new single 'Syndicate' in conjunction with the video game of the same name, and Mixmag has an exclusive stream of the track. Syndicate is an EA Games remake of the eponymous real-time classic, transplanted into a first-person shooter storyline. The original trailer for Syndicate featured snippets of this Skrillex remix, but we have the whole thing to stream below:

I'm with you on that one Khel. F*****g horrible soundtrack that ruins an otherwise awesome trailer imo. Only thing worse would be Nu-Metal like linkin park or similar.

Oh, it's Skrillex. That explains why it is just loud noises.
