The release date for the Rise of the Samurai DLC for Total War: Shogun 2 has been confirmed in a release from publisher SEGA - 27th of September, via their digital distribution channels. Additionally, there'll be some free release day downloadable content available (so I guess you pay for the DLC, then you get additional free DLC at the same time, which seems like a weird way to do things):
To celebrate the launch of ‘The Rise of the Samurai’, players will receive a free update on the day of release which will include three new castle types set across five new maps, for a total of fifteen new Shogun 2 campaign siege-battle maps. The Creative Assembly will also be running future double-XP weekends, enabling all Shogun 2 players engaged in online battles to earn double the experience for their units and avatars, further details of these will be shared with the Total War community shortly. Please see attached press release for more details.
We gave Total War: Shogun 2 a pretty good rap when it was released back in March as one of the more comprehensive strategy games out there, so if you're into strategy then this is one you want to check out.
