Gamespot have an exclusive first look at Portal co-creator Kim Swift's new first-person puzzle title, Quantum Conundrum, since she departed Valve for Airtight Games.

The basics see the game as a much cuter and fuzzier Portal-esque game where you play as young kid dropped off at your eccentric uncle's large laboratory-slash-mansion where an explosion takes place charging you with investigating and looking for your missing uncle.

Instead of opening portals here though, you're switching the environments in and out of different dimensions, each with their own unique properties. You can then combine these for positive puzzle-solving effect.

In the Gamespot preview Swift uses a "plush" dimension where everything in the immediate area takes on soft-toy properties and thus weight and more all change for a different type of interaction. She also uses a dimension that slows time to a crawl (though you can still move around normally), and then combines the two.

It certainly looks interesting, though very, very much like her Portal work. Stay tuned for more media when we have it.

hopefully they switch it up a little, it still looks pretty similar with the lasers and putting boxes infront of them :/

Added Gamespot's dev walkthrough to the OP because the debut trailer is just a weaksauce teaser in comparison. :/

Honestly, I really enjoy the systems in place in puzzle games like this, but I don't think they're dynamic enough. This is why I'm really keen on Dishonored, because it appears to follow a similar formula, but the situations you're presented with are as varied and dynamic as your choices in how you use your powers and abilities.

It's definitely a game people need to start paying attention to

I like the mechanics they have introduced but it seems like their almost making another portal or a portal mod. Still interested tho

haha looks good but damn it's similar to Portal... agree with the comments it needs to be more diverse!

Looks very damn cool. If it's half as good as Portal 2 it will be awesome.
