Yes, the gameplay and graphics are fancy, plus that's the point of a demo...

I've played it, it's pretty damn cool. There's a good write-up on it here:

Mine is downloading as I had a code from the Space marine main website. Maybe for some reason Steam doesn't like Australia?

I watched TotalBiscuit play this today (30 min youtube video) and it's the only time i've ever heard him so excited and happy. I first thought that this was another Dawn of War game and didn't want anything to do with it. After seeing TBs video though this looks f*****g epic and i'm so buying it.

yeh I watched the first few mins of it - probably one of the best things I think he said was right at the start - basically, thank f*** someone is making a PC game with all the features PC gamers will want when it comes to actually making sure the game is playable.

Yeah what is up with all those insane aspect ratios? what the crap was that one like 568:720? how many monitors is that? I also liked the fact it seemed to have a ton of options you could scale such 2 mouse sensitivity scales for horizontal and vertical. That alone is a rare thing in games these days. I'm going to have to play this myself tomorrow.

It's meant to be free for everyone on the 23rd (but because of the usual time-zone business we have to wait until tomorrow).

40K fanboy, so somewhat biased, but they've really hit the nail on the head with this one.

I haven't pre-ordered it and I'm downloading it now.

What you do need is the code from the website if you are a registered member (of the website not steam). You get the code and add it via steam/games/activateaproductonsteam.

I'm not sure if this game will involve tyranids or not but after seeing the demo and the large swarms of orcs, imagine what they could do with a Starship Troopers type level where you have to hold off a never ending swarm until a dropship arrives for pick up.

About the only thing I didn't like from what I saw was that the marines had no helmets on. That's just a personal preference though since I think they look dumb without one but yeah.

They've only shown Orks and Chaos in any previews so far, so I doubt there's any Tyranids. What they should do is remake Space Hulk.

Downloading the demo now, placed my pre-order based on all the above comments.

Its a good sign these days when a developer issues a demo before the product is released, they are obviously confident :)

Fun demo. Love the executions, the sound of the weapons etc.

If you rewatch the first trailer you can see what loooks like a Carnifax in the mist/steam/smoke right at the end of the trailer. Of course that could just be setting up DLC. Relic sort of did that with the Dawn of War games, Winter Assault had Necrons in it for a teeny bit then the next expansion they were a full blown playable race.

About the only thing I didn't like from what I saw was that the marines had no helmets on. That's just a personal preference though since I think they look dumb without one but yeah.

The multiplayer side of the game has full customisation including different helmets for you to play with.

Was going to buy this anyway, but the demo was f*****g awesome. Loved jumping around with the jump pack and then slamming down on orks and gibbing them. The execution mechanic is awesome too, how you get health back for executing people, it pretty much encourages you to stay in the thick of the action and kick ass instead of run away and find cover like a pussy. Its like, if you see s***loads of orks coming at you, the best place to be is right in the thick of it.

And it looks like it has the Inquisition in it, which made me happy in the pants. Though I guess hoping for some Grey Knights is probably a bit much.

Bloody hell this is amazing. It's like Gears of War, but better. And done right on the PC. Definitely pre-ordering. To much fun to miss out on. Might need to fix the Orks though, need to be a bit more grunter.

People with a code from spacemarine.com got the demo earlier then everyone else (unless you had preordered on Steam then you got it last week.)
