According to Eurogamer it is. But let's be honest, Gearbox President Randy Pitchford has been dancing around the concept for a while, and Gearbox have done quite well for 2K Games since coming on board for both the original Borderlands, and saving Duke Nukem Forever (even if it was poorly received by critics).
According to the
Eurogamer report, a 'friend' of theirs close to the project has told them it's definitely due for release in 2012, and that 2K Games will be making an official announcement involving the project in the very near future. And, to be honest, Eurogamer's mates haven't steered us wrong yet, so we're inclined to believe them (and have 'friends' of our own). If the game is coming - what would you like to see in a Borderlands sequel?

A wider variety of classes, and better balanced. Having a blood-wing fly out and kill everything in sight is pretty fkn fun, but the other guys on your team get a bit bored sometimes.
Also: come ... catch a riiiiiiiiiiiiide.

More characters, some new types of environments.
An icon next to your character power telling you at a glance which element you have on.
A bigger ability tree with a set up like Torchlight where you don't have to have power one to get power two but be a certain level. This is a maybe, haven't fully thought this one out.
More stuff to set on fire, melt, explode and electrocute. Maybe even an ice element power.

This is perhaps the holy grail of FPS gaming I feel. Having a different level each time you restart the same mission would be incredible. That's what I hoped L4D2 would have since they said the maps would change depending how you perform and that is just horse s***. If truly random maps cannot be done, then at least designj 3 or 4 different maps for each level that are randomly chosen.

Hellfire: London had random maps and was a fps depending on which character type you picked.
