A new version of the awesome open source, free, all-singing, all-dancing media player VLC is now available:
This release was necessary due to two security issues in the real and avi demuxers. It also contains improvements in the fullscreen mode of the Win32 mozilla plugin, the MacOSX Media Key handling and Auhal audio output as well as bug fixes in GUI, decoders and demuxers..
You can download it now locally from AusGamers (the Mac version is also available).

I also note they've got the iOS version for iPad, iPhone4 and 3GS, although I assume you need a jailbroken device on which you can install custom binaries.

doesnt everyone just auto update when it prompts you, negating the need for these notices?

That iOS version isn't updated if anyone is wondering. That's the same one that's been on cydia for ages.

No, MPC is much better when set up right. VLC is just easier as it uses its own internal codecs which can play the majority of files out there.

^^ so does media player classic home cinema.

I still prefer MPC-Home Cinema over VLC

I think I disabled it or something coz windows' VLC never bothers me, VLC on my mac does though.
