Before jumping in to help Infinity Ward finish off their Modern Warfare trilogy with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer Games were working on an action/adventure title set within the Call of Duty universe. And for those not in the know, Sledgehammer was founded by ex-Visceral boss, and co-Dead Space creator, Glen Schofield.
Speaking with
IndustryGamers, Activision CEO of publishing, and nice dresser (we've seen him, he has nice clothes), Eric Hirshberg, has revealed the game has simply been put on hiatus and will still likely see the light of day; the team are just much more focused on getting the next Call of Duty out the door.
"Right now Sledgehammer’s 100% focused on Modern Warfare 3," he told the site. "We haven’t announced the future slate or future plans for the studio. They were originally working on an extension of the Call of Duty franchise into an action/adventure genre and that’s a game I still want to play. That’s a supreme, incredible group doing that. All I can say is right now they’re 100% focused on Modern Warfare 3."
