Nintendo of Australia has sent through word we'll be seeing a AU$50 price-drop for both the Nintendo DSi and DSi XL beginning June 30, though there's no word on any such decrease in price for the recently released Nintendo 3DS (and just ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time release, no less).
The popular handheld consoles have sold more than 3.1 million units* (includes Nintendo DS® and Nintendo DS® Lite) since the original Nintendo DS launch in 2005. Nintendo DS has sold the highest number of all video game consoles in Australia for six consecutive years.
There's no knowing if this is in line with price-cuts worldwide, but it's good to see it happening regardless. The DSi will now retail for an SRP of AU$199 while the DSi XL has dropped to an SRP of $AU249.
