At Konami's pre-E3 press conference, they revealed a lot of love for the Metal Gear Solid franchise moving forward, but little in the way of anything overly new.
It was revealed the PSP original, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, would be seeing a HD makeover to arrive on the PS3 and Xbox 360, as part of a complete HD Metal Gear Solid Collection, which also features Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Zone of the Enders is also going to enjoy a HD face-lift for both platforms - all arriving this November. Sony's NGP wasn't without love with the revelation of a new Silent Hill game and a new Contra title for their handheld.
Finally, Kojima Productions showed off a very small (yet excellent) tech demo (along with a silly video) for a new engine they hope will shorten development for multiplatform projects and would be lead out of the gate with his next official "project" title in 2012. He said that this year was a "year of preparation" with the engine (dubbed "Fox"), and boasted that he hopes it's received as one of the best in the world.
Stay tuned for media from the event.
