Following yesterday's gameplay trailer release for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and ahead of E3 and the flood of information we'll likely see from the event, Activision have confirmed a solid release date for the final installment in Infinity Ward's famed series, which will hit store-shelves, worldwide, November 8, 2011.

There was a pretty solid rumour doing the rounds earlier this year when EA and DICE came out with a bang with Battlefield 3, that they intended on taking the Holiday shooter genre back for themselves by releasing BF3 a whole week earlier than MW3 - they were just waiting on Acti to reveal the date. If this rumour is true, we can either expect a BF3 release date sometime in the next two weeks or from E3 itself.

Either way, the war is definitely on.

Is it really a war between franchises?

I mean, won't the CoD players just play CoD and BF players just play BF?

there in lies the problem... COD has more players and BF wants them :)
