Now that the PlayStation Network is well on its way to full restoration, We've seen a lot of different reports on the compensation care-packages that Sony would be offering users in various regions around the world, but it wasn't exactly clear as to which basket Australian users would fall into.

However, we've now had confirmation that Aussies will indeed be receiving the same offer as European customers, which consists of two free downloadable games for PS3 account holders, two free downloadable games for PSP account holders:
Two PS3 games from the following list:
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Infamous*
  • Wipeout HD/Fury
  • Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
  • Dead Nation*
For those with PSP accounts, you will also be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list:
  • LittleBigPlanet PSP
  • ModNation PSP
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation*
Additionally, there's also some PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Home related benefits. Check out the full list on the official PlayStation blog.

Kinda cool, but they're games they can't really sell anymore and most are being given away at their benefit (like a demo to get people to buy the sequels).

Not that I'm unhappy with getting free stuff and it's better than nothing, I'll be going for Infamous and Dead nations too. But I don't think it's a giant leap with regards to a we're sorry gift to repair damages

Though in saying that, they'll already be suffering a rather decent loss of profits, so I wouldn't expect them to cripple themselves

Probably get Wipeout and Ratchet and Clank.

It makes me happy that I've got a US account as well as my AU one. Just sad that I don't have a Japanese one to get the freebies eventually thrown at that region :(

I already have LittleBigPlanet, Infamous and Quest for Booty. I have no interest in Wipeout HD, so that leaves me with one game. Yay.

So, do we get to keep these games and the ability to play them after the free month "plus" membership? Or are they tied to having a "plus" account?

{EDIT}

From the PS blog linked:

Access to the 30 days free PS Plus subscription is only available for those countries where PS Plus is offered. You will have access to the PS Plus content planned for May for 30 days. Access to the free games and exclusive features finishes at the end of the 30-day subscription period. Anything you buy with exclusive discounts, dynamic themes and premium avatars are yours to keep forever.

The free games are yours to keep. It is only some of the content you get through PS Plus that will expire at the end of the month.

No, but they're tied to the PSN actually being operational OLOLOL (too soon?)

So I have a PSN account but I don't have a PS3, can I claim any of the free games on my account for when I eventually get one?

And before you ask, I signed up to PSN on the net to take advantage of a coke promotion, so I already have a free PSN copy of the god of war collection waiting for me to download when I get a PS3.

I think it says that it's for any account made prior to the 20th of April 2011.

Yeah, I have a US account, but I'll only be able to use it for games I already own.

EDIT: It looks like the US is getting Super Stardust HD instead of Quest for Booty. Works for me, I'll grab that one instead for sure.

How does the aiming look gumby to you?
You get a bright LOS line to your target. Couldnt get any better imo.

Ontop of that the main way to kill the zombies is rounding them up like sheep. By either setting off a car alarm or throwing down a flare. Then throwing in a grenade or explosive. So aiming isnt a huge part of the game at all.

Edit: Yeah. SuperStar dust HD is awesome. Im grabbing that aswell.
SuperStar Dust is also made by the same people who maade Dead Nation. And they have refereces in Dead Nation about SuperStar Dust. (One that i noticed..)

According to reports on Nyleveia.com, Eurogamer, and NeoGAF, Sony’s PlayStation Network password reset system-the one just put in place after the PSN hack-has been compromised, allowing hackers to change a PSN password if they know your email and date of birth. Exactly the sort of information that was released in the original hack.

Oh sony... You so crazeh

Sony has been hacked yet again – this time its Japanese subsidiary ISP So-net has been robbed by hackers, with attackers successfully stealing loyalty points from customers. So-net reported that their points system was hacked by an unknown third party who had made thousands of unauthorised accesses prior to the incident coming to light.

Absolute damages where relatively limited – 128 customers had loyalty points (redeemable for the usual junk) stolen, with total equivalent losses amounting to approximately ¥100,000. In addition to the points theft, hackers also gained access to the email of a further 90 customers. The incident only came to light after Sony received numerous complaints from customers discovering that their points were mysteriously lowering of their own accord.

So-net issued the usual grovelling apology and promises of enhanced security measures in future. Sony claims the attack is unrelated to the PSN hacks, but does not deny the possibility that the leaked account data could have been used in the So-net hack. The scope of the attack is of course fairly minor (though since So-net is a small domestic Japanese ISP, the numbers may not be quite as insignificant as they at first appear), although this is by now hardly the point.

Sony just can't catch a break.

EDIT - Don't wish to double post so just thought i'd let everyone know that since my last post, sony have been hacked about another 3 or 4 times, each resulting in a loss of information for them. Someone really hate sony out there.
