In an effort to bridge the narrative gap between Portal 1 and Portal 2, it seems like Valve are going the only route they think fits: comics.

IGN have a first look at the books, but the Halflife2.net forums mention that we're likely to be introduced to a new character who was hinted at through Portal 1, and speculation points at Doug Rattmann; the purported graffiti artist who first told us all "the cake is a lie". Of course that might not be all they touch on, as it's long been rumoured the Half-Life universe and the Portal universe are one and the same, so maybe this internally produced material will finally shed some light on that.

HL2 and Portal both pretty clearly suggest a rivalry between aperture and black mesa

or at least a rivalry in the past before the games are set

Uh, didn't the end of HL2 Episode 2 quite clearly state that they were trying to destroy something created by Aperture Science? I thought it was already known that they were in the same universe.

Yeh, Aperture Science's research vessel was the Borealis...which Judith Mossman was trying to infiltrate during the events of Episode 2

...the same one Gordon and Alyx were heading towards at the end of the game on the chopper before the advisors arrived on the scene and well...you know the rest

During the events of Ep 2 they kept making references to a secret project Aperture were working on (which needed to be stopped), which obviously is the Portal project. I cant wait to see the storyline crossover between Portal and Half Life in Portal 2 !
