Continuing their twentieth anniversary celebrations, and making a point about their success only being possible with their legions of fans, Blizzard are offering up a mammoth prize (with awesome runners-up prizes) that could see you winning an all-expenses-paid trip to this year's BlizzCon. All they want you to do is mark your favourite memory of your experience with Blizzard over the last 20-years, in video form.

It can be any kind of memory, and you can film it in any kind of format you want. If they like what you put together, then you go into the draw for fame, glory and loot. Phat lewt.

For more details, check out the competition's official page.

If I could make a video I'd thank Blizzard for making Cata so boring that I was finally able to quit without giving it a second thought. Oh, and now I can play all those games I've been missing out over the years.

I remember fondly back to the days when Blizzard made games that weren't WoW.

Totally amazed when I played Diablo 1 back in the 90s.

So over people blaming WoW for destroying their pointless lives. Man up. I played Closed BETA and only heard good positive comments back then. Main stream-homofest now.

Outlaw ur just badass man, how far above the homo masses did it make you feel when you were in closed beta man?

You must look down on gamers everywhere for some reason, usually the same reasons that companies like Blizzard empower their players because of

sure the critic is valid but the opinion is what i was pointing towards

it's dismissing the issue of this emerging gaming addiction thing entirely, which seems a bit noobish or naive

not particularly reffering to myself, moreso the gushings and hopelessness of trolls(?) *possibly* on forums such as reddit

Saying get will power is not helping. I think a lot of people don't know how to flex their will power, many in my opinion have none whatsoever because they have gotten everything they've needed.

trillion, you dribble on so much It's hard to make sense of what your saying, not to mention the fact I didn't realize this thread was about addiction to games.
You shoot off on such a tangent in almost every thread I see you in.

I don't think its restricted to wow. I'm sure theres plenty of obsessed COD players out there that would go nuts if they lost all their stats and rankings and s***. Or starcraft 2 players, etc. People can get obsessed with and addicted to anything, be it a game, or a person, or a drug or cleaning. Its a personality thing, theres nothing inherently addictive about games or about WoW, but if you're that way inclined, then its the sort of game that has enough depth and that lets you sink enough time in that you can get obsessed and addicted to it.

I mean, I have a friend who is obsessed and addicted to Dragon Age, she played the first game through like 10 times, and when Dragon Age 2 came out, took a week off work and played all day and night till she had finished it multiple times and done everything. The thing is, that game is finite, you reach a point where you just have nothing else to do and you move onto something else. WoW never ends though, drop a person with that sort of obsession into WoW and its a recipe for disaster, but its hardly WoW's fault.

Was tempted to enter this cos I want to go to Blizzcon, but the actual winner is decided by votes, Blizzard picks the top 10 and then the winner is decided by people voting on which one they like.

So I reckon to win you'd either have to put a ridiculous amount of work into your video and make it super impressive, or you'd have to have some extremely emotional, heart-touching story like about being a cripple and never being able to go outside and play with your friends and WoW has opened up a whole new world to you and made you feel like a human being again.

As much as I want to go to Blizzcon, I don't think I want to cripple myself for the chance, and I lack the time or ability to make a super impressive video, so I guess that rules me out.

Khel
Posted 01:21am 24/3/11
Yeah, but they pay for the flight too as part of that prize, its not really something thats local to me :P

Edit: Work permitting though, and assuming I can actually GET a ticket (cos they sell out in like 2 minutes), I'd like to try and go this year. I tried to get to PAX last year but work got in the way so I didn't end up going, would like to try and get to something this year.

I attribute my success at buying tickets in both rounds last year, to having an SSD drive for instant refresh. Probably helps having a US-based internet connection, too.

Will be going again this year, tickets permitting.
