After Months of rumour rumbling, Apple has, as expected, officially announced the iPad 2 at GDC 2011 -- the second revision of their popular tablet device.

Tech blog Engadget has some comprehensive coverage of the event and the device, but the basic noteworthy points are: a lighter and slimmer design, front and rear-facing cameras and a boasted 10-hour battery life. The Processer, a dual-core 1GHz A5 chip is also said to be up to twice as fast as the original iPad and it will be available in variants with or without 3G and storage from 16GB up to 64GB.
