Inside Dead Island 2's Gloriously Gory FLESH System

Following the little exclusivity window yesterday that kicked off with a very impressive CG trailer, European publisher Deep Silver have now officially announced that they will be bringing Techland's Zombie shooter Dead Island to the world.

Techland's Poland-based studio is perhaps best known for the Call of Juarez games and the recently released Motocross title Nail'd.
Set in an open world tropical island, hordes of different festering zombies await players around every corner while they embark on a variety of thrilling missions through the holiday resort. With firearms and ammunition being scarce the player must rely on utilising found items as weapons for self-defense and fight off zombie hordes in intense melee combat. A diverse range of items can be collected and will later serve to transform the player’s ordinary makeshift weapons into serious instruments of destruction.

In addition to satisfying even the most bloodthirsty action fan’s fantasy, Dead Island also features role-playing elements which allow the player to develop one of the game’s unique character classes according to their preferences, all the while learning new skills and fresh tactics during their journey through the perilous environments of the island. What’s more, anytime during a game up to four players can seamlessly join together and experience the intense combat and immersive story with cooperative gameplay.
Dead Island was originally announced at the 2007 GamesCom event in Leipzig but appears to have had quite the overhaul since those original trailers.

If you haven't seen the impressive new cinematic trailer yet (or just want to watch it again and again), check it out embedded below or click here for the HD option (very recommended).

Of course, that's just a pre-rendered CG trailer and offers little idea of what the actual game will look like, which is what these new screenshots are for (compare them to these old shots released back in 2008).

Dead Island is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 "later this year".

Haha Geoff, it is pretty emotional with a child in it.

I was gunna say I like that it has a child in it, few games have that. Clearly I'm not a dad, or maybe I'm part Polis**?

Hey Metro 2033 had kids in it, they stood out..... developed in Ukraine.

Pity this game probably won't see the light of day here in oz...looks promising. Looks like a cross between Just Cause 2 and L4D

Why cant we open Ausgamers thumbnails in new windows yet ? :(
Posted 09:09pm 19/2/11
^ Because we're stuck in the good old days.

Actually this is just tempting me to write some kind of greasemonkey script to tide me over till they fix the crappy thumbnail system.

I don't like fast turning zombies. I like fast moving ones as much as the next guy, but fast turning ones are a bit..hmmmm

Geoff's achievement attempt was good.
