Valve have announced that pre-orders for the highly anticipated Portal 2 are now open - you can hit it up in the Steam store. The details:
- 44.99USD (-10%, regular price 49.99USD) (Same price as US)
- The 2 Pack: 79.98 (-20%, regular price 99.98USD)
- Pre-purchase bonus: Free copy of Portal, giftable if you already own it.
Other retailers appear to have their own exclusive pre-order bonuses (such as Amazon), no word from EB Games, GAME or JB Hi-Fi regarding this. EB has listed the console versions at AU108.00.

Apparently, the PS3 version also comes with a Steamplay (PC/Mac) copy. promoted/edited forum item

Ordered my 2 pack this morning. SOooo looking forward to it, and it's pretty darn cheap for 2 copies.

Yeah, I'm gonna wait and see how much OzGameShop has the PS3 version. Not that I'll play it on PS3, but if it's the same price and comes with the Steam version as well, I may as well. Besides, I'm interested to see how Steam is going to work on PS3.

Overpriced IMO. In no rush to play it so I'll wait until it eventually makes it to a steam sale.

I didn't even get what all the rage was about the first one, I found it next to mindless :e

I thought the first one was great, and I'm really looking to the second one as it's one of the few games my partner plays so I'm looking forward to co-op.

This should be great, and for $40 I think the pricing is fine.

Is it more of a full game than portal one, cause that was only a few hours, a brilliant few hours, but not realy worth a full game price, and the replayability is pretty limited.

WTF is the 2 pack?

@Raven: Two copies of Portal 2, and you send one to a friend.

2 copies for $80 rather then 1 for $45.

Bit disappointed with the preorder bonus, 10% and a game I already have, lame.

Other stores have worse preorder bonuses, mainly skins/decals for the Co-op campaign.
Examples:
Gamestop (US): http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/games/portal-2/78402#bonusFeatures
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Portal-2-Pc/dp/B002I0JIQW/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1297732962&sr=1-3

I can't really see them giving any good pre-order to be honest. Nothing really to give :S

@Viper, I'm certain the game will be a full game. Valve never disappoint with releases and I'm sure the replayability will be great given it's got co-op amungst other things

i think i remember reading that the co-op alone is twice as long as the first game.

The first game was really more of a tech/concept demo than anything - so yes I would expect this to be longer. If you liked the first one, then why wouldn't you buy the second? It's going to be better in every way!!

I really loved the first one but i dont know how they can change it so much to justify it being a long/longer game and full price. Although if anyone can do it its valve

Check out some of the videos. They have added quite a few new mechanics and co-op.

Yeah the vids look awesome. How is it over priced? Full game is always 50 bucks, unless you are paying $60 because its cod or sc2. Or paying $80-100 because we live in AUS.

I'll probs buy the 2 copy edition.

bahahaha the Valentines day Portal 2 teaser is hilarious. It's on Steam if you haven't seen it yet, NFI how to embed it here.

Edit: Wait, here it is:

Probabaly because you are a console playing f***wit who thinks the COD series has gotten better as they have progressed.

As far as innovations go, the whole portal concept and game was amazing. Anybody who says otherwise was probably too stupid to get past the first few levels.

The new features in this game look great and im interested to see how coop will work.

I don't think it's overpriced, but I'm also in no rush and will wait for a special.

Yeah, I also know it's going to be awesome, but use been burnt with buying too many new-release full priced games lately. Think I'll wait a bit.

Ditto. Steam sales, early release bugs, and the constant reminder that I have more to play than I can ever get around to, has led me to deciding on waiting out new releases until prices drop.

Though Dues Ex, Thief 4, and The Old Republic may get me...

^^ With the exception of L4D (who was a separate team), Valve games are generally far less buggy than most at launch. I guess it's because of the differences with Valve-Time and Real-time.
