THQ have unveiled their new corporate logo, which they tell us is a visual reminder of the company's new direction and their drive to push through the games industry even further into the next stage of gaming's maturity.
"Our new logo epitomises the change, innovation and creative growth that are the cornerstones of the new THQ," said Brian Farrell, THQ President and CEO via press release. "By developing triple-A, innovative, original intellectual properties, attracting the top talent in the industry, and placing that talent first, THQ continues to redefine itself. This new logo seeks to capture that change and make it tangible."
THQ have been aggressively expanding their portfolio over the past five years, most notably with brand-new IPs and high-end acquisitions of some of the industry's most talented people.
"Over the past few years the gaming industry has seen an unprecedented period of innovation,” Farrell said. “You can see it in the deep, rich storylines, in the expansion of social and mobile gaming, and in the introduction of new technologies that enhance the gaming experience. THQ is proving its commitment to deliver the best experience to gamers through internally developed original intellectual properties (Homefront and uDraw), creative partnerships, (Guillermo del Toro and Tomonobu Itagaki) and new talent acquisitions (Patrice Désilets), in order to solidify its position as a flagship publisher of extraordinary interactive entertainment.”
What do you think of their new logo

When the new ANZ rebrand came out I thought it was turd but it's okay now.
I still hate the new PwC rebrand though, it's just plain and turd.

You know how most people don't know who makes games just who publishes them. Two of the three Hog mentioned were also Relic while Iron Lore made Titan Quest and one addon for DOW1.
And this thread is 10th on page one of Google for me.

Yeh THQ is primarily a game publisher ... thought that was common knowledge? Given that publishers pay the bills I reckon its fair to say that they "make" games.
/shrug the List of THQ games is pretty epic.

Oh, and some professional opinion.

Large corporates like THQ just love wasting money on trash like this. It's the stuff of dreams for most marketing directors to create a new corporate identity, as this sort of thing doesn't occur too regularly.

Otherwise the logo is ok, very stark, very modern. It seems to be less on a hardcore gamer aesthetic and more closer to an apple or wii type brand. It's lost a lot of the action of the old logo but gained sophistication imo.
It probably says a lot less about THQ which means it will sit just as easily on a casual title as it will on a hardcore title.

I just don't see a publisher with artists, lawyers and PR types going out of house to make a basic logo. Maybe some demographic consulting but overall I think they would have a handle on that.
Oh and THQ did Metro 2033 and MX Vs. ATV series (Both great). New title that series coming soon called MX Vs. ATV Alive, little bit of info here.
