Well, it's *
kind* of a rebot. Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix have revealed they're taking Lara Croft back to her roots; to a time when she wasn't the acrobatic gun-slinger we all know and love, but rather a scared and inexperienced young woman, thrust into a life or death situation after surviving a ship wreck and being washed ashore on an unknown beach.
“Forget everything you know about Tomb Raider, we are exploring things that have never been done before in this game,” said Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio, Crystal Dynamics via press release. “This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.”
Unfortunately the only images available are exclusive to Game Informer, but you can have a look at their teaser cover on the
official site. No other details have been revealed.

That "Forget everything you know about Tomb Raider, we are exploring things that have never been done before in this game" part seems a bit gay though. Pretty sure one of the older Core Design Tomb Raider games already featured teenage Lara (The Last Revelation I think it was).
Still, Crystal have done decent job with the rebooting so far, so if they want to give her a completely new backstory I say go for it. Hopefully though, they're learning bits and pieces from their competitors like Uncharted and this won't just be more of the same.

As for next Tomb Raider, hope they can sort and make control lay-out more intuitive. Surely this feature is the game's greatest weakness.
