Electronic Arts have released a new statement announcing that they have procured primary publishing responsibilities for the upcoming BioWare MMO Star Wars the Old Republic. The previous arrangement had obligatory Star Wars publisher LucasArts sharing the load.
With this new agreement, certain publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities previously designated to LucasArts will shift to EA, so that all publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities can be centralized for efficiency. Lucasfilm will continue serving as a key partner, collaborating on design and marketing, and as a licensor of the property.
It's not clear if this signifies more confidence in the product from EA or less confidence from Lucasarts but at the very least it should make things like media access and organisation of expected beta tests and similar a little simpler.
Star Wars: The Old Republic is due for Windows PC in the first half of 2011.

saying that, EA have the purse strings, so in effect they may have a chance to screw this game up - although im concerned of the state of the current videos anyway

Which would be promising for the engine etc as that's where bioware usually falls short, except in the videos it looks s***. :(

I think whoever is responsible for cutting their official marketing videos should be shot for using the gumbiest in-game footage possible.

And Khel, are you allowed to give personal opinions on how playable/smooth the gameplay is? Because that's where it looks weakest usually.

But, have faith in Bioware, its in good hands.
