Company of Heroes Senior Designer, Brian Wood, was tragically killed in a collision last week, according to an update on Relic's website.
We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Brian Wood who was killed in a tragic traffic accident last Friday. Both Brian and his wife Erin were struck by a car on Whidbey Island in Washington State. Erin, who is six-months pregnant, survived the crash and has since been released from the hospital to be with her family. Brian was the Senior Designer on the Company of Heroes franchise and a key member of the Relic family. Everyone here has a tremendous amount of respect for Brian and he will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brian's family during this difficult time.
Very sad news indeed. AusGamers would like to pay our respects to the Wood family; his contributions to the world of RTS gaming and the industry in general will be long remembered.

R.I.P - That's sad news, and yes Company of Heroes is a brilliant game which is highly under the radar.

RIP Brian Wood. I came late to the CoH series, but have since enjoyed my time playing as much as possible. Brilliant games, and sad to see a prosperous person go away to early in life.

With an out-of-control Chevy Blazer bearing down on him, the 33-year old North Vancouver man braked and swerved his Subaru wagon so that he would take the force of the head-on collision, saving his wife of five years, pregnant with their first baby..

“All the policeman say that if we had hit the car head-on all of us would be dead. At the very last second (Brian) braked really hard and turned right so that he would be put in the path of the SUV and not me and the baby, and that is the only thing that saved us both.

A good man died because some drugged up f*****s decide to go joy riding.

wow I didn't know that. That is even more depressing. People that get under the influence of anything and get in a car make me wish we still had corporal punishment even when they don't kill anyone

Reading that article "It is not uncommon for those found guilty of vehicular homicide to get less than two years in jail in the U.S." pisses me off. Send these idiots away for 5/10 years at least, jesus.

RIP to Brian, he sounded like a nice bloke :(

That'd be capital punishment there trog, corporal punishment is getting the strap or cane.

RIP Brian Wood, you will be sadly missed. My sympathies to his family for the loss of no doubt a loving husband and father to be.
