In more movie talk, according to PC Gamer, Valve's Gabe Newell has said that a Half-Life movie has always been in the pipeline, but ultimately, that Hollywood just didn't have a clue about what makes the property so good, so Valve might do it themselves.
"That's when we started saying 'Wow, the best thing we could ever do is to just not do this as a movie, or we'd have to make it ourselves.' And I was like, 'Make it ourselves? Well that's impossible.' But the Team Fortress 2 thing, the Meet The Team shorts, is us trying to explore that."
If Valve are known for one thing, it's doing their own thing, and doing it well. I'd support them and see any movie they put out.

fail.

All game movies are crap. (You know deep down it's true)

Half-Life was highly derivative of other well known sci-fi films. HL contained elements of:

Predator, Aliens, The X-Files, The Thing etc etc.

They should talk to those guys that make those IRL HL2 short films, they are pretty cool.

They should make a steam movie. Michael Cera loses all his friends list and he tries to get it back.

Half Life does not have a good enough story for a movie. Would be a failure.

Yeah the story works for the game but I'm not sure it would work on screen, would rely too much on jumping headgrabs at the start and then near the end would be like every other game adaption. I would still go and watch it though.

If the story fleshed out some of freemans background and the like I reckon it could be made to work.

I reckon they could pull it off, even more props if they pull it off without gordon speaking.

It'd pretty much just be doom but with crowbars instead of guns

It would be awesome if the movie was mostly first person, with little to no dialogue from Gordon. Basically if it was a feature length version of this:

But yeah, whether they could keep it interesting enough to sit through 2 hours of that. Who knows.

They'd ruin it by getting Marky Mark to play a scientist.

would be pretty hard to translate half life into a movie. maybe they could do a movie about the seven hour war that took place between half life and half life 2

I think it might work better as a mini tv series like jekyll or sherlock maybe with the people that do eureka.

Maybe Valve should finish making Half-Life 2: Episode 3 before they start talking about movies its been way to long for it to be episodic content.

yeah I was going to add that the only problem with a tv series would be we would get the first couple of eps then then the last episode wouldn't be seen for a couple of years
