Blizzard just sent through word they're hosting an official StarCraft II Invitational Tournament specific to our region, which will include South East Asia and New Zealand.
Based on their regional ranking and performance on Battle.net, sixteen of the top StarCraft II players from Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand will be selected to take part in the region's first StarCraft II online tournament.

The regional matches commence on September 10, and selected players will be seeded randomly in a sixteen-player, double elimination bracket. The four finalists will face off on September 12, 2010.

Tournament finalists will be awarded cash prizes, with the first-place winner taking home the $3,000 USD grand prize. Best of all, the first- and second-place winners will be invited to attend BlizzCon 2010 in Anaheim, California!
So do you have the gusto to ante up and represent for AU? I don't as I can barely beat my house-mates in a local game, but if you're planning on throwing your hat in the ring, be sure to let us know.

Blizzard now realise how big the SC esports industry is and wants a slice of the pie.

So the televised Korean SC2 industry is at a complete standstill due to legal issues.

Blizzard won't allow them a LAN option and they also won't allow them to broadcast SC2 due to intellectual property.

lol dont exaggerate the situation. its not even close to a standstill. Theres just been a change in who has the rights for now. GOMTV has all the broadcasting rights to sc2 atm.

On top of that theres more than 1 sc2 pro scene besides korea. The intel masters are being played right now in fact with a massive line up.

GOMTV has all the broadcasting rights to sc2 atm.
They don't have the players though, so what's the point.

Yeah I know there's other pro scenes but I want to watch all the current OSL/MSL players in a full televised starleague as it should have been from the get go.

They do have the players. There are currently 2 big clans in korea with all the best korean sc2 players in it (Funnily enough, they're all ex sc1 pros back in their day but either quit or washed out).

You wont see any MSL/OSL players playing sc2 for ATLEAST a few more months as they still have SC1 committments and until sc1 money dies off and sc2 money goes up they wont be switching over. The MSL and OSL are in their round of 8 atm and it could possibly be the last of both of them.

Do you have any links CSIRAC?

All I can seem to find are the same 3-4 koreans and players like Whitera/Idra etc.

EDIT: One of the clans "ogs" or something you're referring to?

ya oGs being #1 and the other clan is Prime. oGs just released a replay pack around, think they're pretty easy to find on sc2 replay sites. havent looked into them myself.

Cheers :D These oGs replays are awesome, 1 base zerg is epic.

I really got sick of the 30-40 minute European replays, all macro then a giant army vs army.
