GamesCom might be making an impact right now, but most of those games won't see the light of your disc-tray until 2011, very soon, however, Fallout: New Vegas will.

But for those who are still on the fence about this one, concerned that it might just be of the "expansion" type, we've put together a new extended hands-on preview from some, well, extended play time we managed to nab at this year's QuakeCon to let you know how it stands alongside Fallout 3, within the Fallout universe and among your "should I buy this?" list.

Click here for the full preview. And click here for details on the game's pre-order special editions.

New Vegas will indeed eat up a lot of free time. But said free time was going to be used on videogaming anyway. So it's a win win situation.

Nice work, can't wait, still have to run through Fallout 3 though, so pile this on the list of games I still can't get enough time for.

In all honesty, after having logged 150+ hours into Fallout 3 and DLC, I reckon there's going to be more in this...

More excited about what the community can do with it as well. They turned F3 from a great game into something epic, looks like this is a great base to work from as well.

Hopefully they fix alot of the annoying crashes in the game. FO3 and Oblivion both had way too many crashes to enjoy the game (constantly mashing save button) for the longest time...

Fallout 3 was cool. I did the operation anchorage DLC and get the chinese stealth armour at the end of it. With my high sneak skill I was literally invisible to all enemies when in sneak mode. Coupled with my silenced perforator obtained from the pitt DLC and I pretty much easy moded the game. Was still fun, though.

Pre-ordered collectors edition on PC for this. So far i've dumped about... 35 hours or so into F3 since I bought the game when it was there was that quakecon sale.

I reckon I've sunk over 200 hours into Fallout 3, haven't yet played any of the DLC except Operation Anchorage, and there's still plenty of stuff I haven't done in the main game world. :)

I don't like some of the DLC, like Zeta for example because by the time your finished it you have like 50 alien repair tools, 800 odd ammo for your extremely strong alien blasters and tons and tons of money in the form of those weightless alien crystals. Too easy to rule the game from then on. I avoid that place.

Can't wait, nice write up too. Looks like it's ticking all the boxes on the 'Successful Sequel' sheet in my books :D

yeah the game is too easy in general. i strongly recommend the Fallout Wanderer's Edition mod (FWE) which balances the game out brilliantly (including the DLC) so it's a challenge all the way through.
