Earlier this week AusGamers caught up with some fine LucasArts folks who trekked out to Australia to give us a deeper look at Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. We managed to pull producer, Brett Rector, aside for a bit to chat to him about the game's development, and spoke in-depth about the story and crafting a character like Starkiller to carry such a narrative burden as to stand as the bridge between Episodes III and IV.

As usual, we've compiled the full interview into a handy feature for you, with an embedded video (replete with 720p download link) and a full transcript for those of you who are bandwidth weary, can't watch or don't like my haircut.

Awesomely, Brett started telling me after the camera was off that Sam Witwer (The Apprentice) is actually a huge Star Wars nerd - he reads all the comics, novels - everything. So rad knowing there are actors out there that into their characters and universes...

If you harm the AG brand one more time by saying say "UM" and "AH" so much that the professional you are on video with matches your chosen communication style as to make us Aussies look as stupid and 3rd world citizens I'll stab you good n stuff..

I saw it on YouTube once - apparently it's true eh

btw - closeups of your Tatts plz

Gotta disagree torok, I say what I'm reading in my mind, so my reading pace is equal to my speech pace.

Good interview, but if you can eliminate the background noise it would make it better. ( I don't mean going Jedi on the guys opening the back door btw).

Koopz nailed it, its the constant umming and ahhing, having interviewed one or two people before i know its hard not to do, but it comes across like you are thinking of the questions on the spot and have come to the interview with out everything you need to conduct it professionally.

Insaying that, i always like the questions you like, would just be better if you could spit them out clearer.

A lot of the time our interviews are conducted moments after a presentation, so we have to interview on our feet - the umming and ahhhing is something I am becoming very conscious of, and know that I've manage to tone down a lot the more I'm on camera... it's not perfected yet, but I'll get there (Colbert does the same in his interviews though :P)

awesome interview Steve. Brett seemed like a really cool guy, i didn't get a chance to talk to him. Was too busy off to the side playing the game :)

interesting fact I got off the interwebz the other day - Starkiller was Luke Skywalkers original surname in the first draft of Star Wars. Is that new or does everyone know that?
