NASA have officially launched their space sim title, Moonbase Alpha:
The game has single and multiplayer options that allow participants to step into the role of an exploration team member in a futuristic 3-D lunar settlement. Players must work to restore critical systems and oxygen flow after a meteor strike cripples a solar array and life support equipment. Available resources include an interactive command center, lunar rover, mobile robotic repair units and a fully-stocked equipment shed.
There's a couple of screenshots on our
game page and thermite posted a trailer for the game
in the forum.
You can nab it now for free
from Steam.

Thanks NASA.
On a side note, I might get seeing a Shuttle Launch off my bucket list yet. NASA has scheduled a couple of more missions for the Shuttles before they are mothballed. Yay :)

Having to drop them to hop into the rover is stupid, also how the f*** do u repair the satelite dishes?

USE THE HYDROSPANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're light years away from any new useful propulsion (barring some major technological breakthrough). I'm dead keen to get off this rock as fast as we can and start reaping the benefits of the rest of the solar system.
A good, solid moonbase would (as I understand it) much easier to get places because you don't have to keep busting out of Earth's gigantor gravity well. Plus I think it would be the best way to get good practice for long term survival in space. Baby steps!
I trust in Neil Armstrong's perspective on the Obama space plan (he's against it).

Change sensitivity there (should be like 4th line down).

A: To once more land a man on the moon;
B: To land a man on Mars;
C: To develop plans for a human settlement in space; or
D. To reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science
you guessed it !

Edit: WTF Faceman! That's some really f***ed up s***. Why do the Americans even have NASA if their head honcho has been given a brief matching something of a diplomatic bureaucrat?

Hahahaha.
I'm for probing. Not just of the anal variety but just sending more unmanned probes and robotics missions (e.g., 'Opportunity' and so on). I think that human risk is the main consideration. I think a death in space would halt everything. It would be better to avoid it. I agree with a statement I've heard, "Let's colonise our own poles before we try to colonise the moon or Mars."

Nah, it's sad but inevitable when you're doing high risk things. It hasn't been that long since the 'Need Another Seven Astronauts' line was last used surely?
We've already colonised the south pole, and the north pole is in the middle of the ocean.

Here's the original interview on Al Jazeera that FOX is referring to. The quote is within the first 3 minutes.
