Good news for fans of the classic GoldenEye game with word from E3 that there's a new title in the works due out at the end of the year for Nintendo Wii:
Designed exclusively for Wii, GoldenEye 007 allows players to channel Daniel Craigís lethal and gritty James Bond in an innovative, modern take on the legendary Bond adventure, GoldenEye. Blending fast-paced first-person shooter (FPS) action with covert gameplay, GoldenEye 007 epitomizes the modern ďthinking manís shooterĒ by offering varied ways to complete each mission, destructible environments, the use of cover and multiple control scheme options, including the Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Classic Controller Pro and the Wii Zapper. GoldenEye 007 redefines the multiplayer experience on Wii with unprecedented split-screen action featuring classic Bond characters and special game modes, as well as online play for up eight friends.
They've released a high-def trailer which includes some focus study video at the start before kicking into the non-high-def gameplay part of the video - you can download it now (172mb) and the streaming version is below.

Our game page has a feature list as well as a few screenshots.

Apparently the single player storyline is written by Bruce Feirstein, who worked on the movie's screenplay.

I cant believe they are making it for the Wii. Whoever owns this IP really should look at releasing on other platforms.

Nintendo own the GoldenEye IP.
Well, they own the rights to make games based on the GoldenEye movie and Activision has the Bond license. So to get a game based on GoldenEye requires both Activision and Nintendo to agree to it.

Donkey Kong and Golden Eye both games are by Rare and both are being remade. Now all we need is a Killer Instinct 3 and i'd really be spoilt.

CMON KI3 hit me!

It ran and looked like s*** on N64, makes sense they'd rerelease it on another underpowered console.

Ah, that explains the mention of Daniel Craig as well I guess?

Its been proven with several decent titles, that the Wii can do decent enough graphics.

You guys remember this thing called gameplay, apparently its still relevant. Super dooper cutting edge graphics dont make a game good, and subsequently a game doesnt have to have cutting edge graphics just to be good, as long as the graphics are good enough to not get in the way of the gameplay experience, then thats all you need.

Do you sit there and look at a game and go, wow, look how cool that light renders on the water, im gonna sit here for hours looking at that, I dont care whats in the rest of the game.

gameplay is important, just as important as being able to actually look at the screen and not be consumed with thoughts of disappointment at how s*** the game looks

Yeah, clearly.

4 player Goldeneye slowed to a crawl when 4 people were in the same room. Anyone using explosives did more damage to the frame rate than they did other players. And the N64 was underpowered compared to the PS1, it just had bilinear filtering.

Ok s*** graphics with s*** gameplay, no one disagrees with about throwing games like that in the bargain bin.

BUT vipers point is solid, graphics are an awesome bonus but i can happily overlook them if the gameplay is solid as gold purly because i don't stand there going "HOLY S*** THAT TREE HAD REALISTIC SHADER RENDERING OMFG!!!!"

Hence WoW does so well otherwise that would have been scraped years ago. Plus who here doesn't mind the Diablo 2? Warcraft 3 etc etc etc.

TADA!
