Most veteran AusGamers users will be more than familiar with the ageless id classic, Doom II (replete with staked Romero head and BFG), but for newcomers who only know the last bunch of games and The Rock as an evil possessed marine, this week is your lucky week as Doom II arrives on Xbox Live Arcade.

Having already slogged through the original Doom and Wolf 3D on the platform, I'm excited, and so should any other Xbox 360 owners as the game supports multiplayer, looks and plays great and has lots of gore. There's no official pricing yet, but it'll probably be around the 400 MS points range.

What was your first Doom II experience?

There wasn't a railgun in Doom II, dips***.

You're thinking of the crossbow.

first Doom II experience: loading the shareware veriosn into my 386, off 3.5" FDD, and creating a custom autoexec.bat and config.sys on a separate boot floppy to take advantage of emm386.

daaaaamn.

doom 2 didn't have a shareware version; only original Doom did :) Doom 2 was a commercial-only product.

Everyone is confused about everything!

First Doom experience was in computer class at High School. The teacher let us play it when ever we finished our work early. Needless to say everyone worked hard to finish their work early.

I used to take my old 486 laptop to my mates place and connect it via a serial cable to his PC and we would CO-OP through the entire game.

The quick brown fox jumped over the laz.... damn serial cable!

It was mad fun. I must have played the first level on that game 1,000,000 times after a 4 hour session there was so many bodies everywhere when playing DM.
