A new update for the popular shooter Battlefield Bad Company 2 has been rolled out, offering a handful of new fixes relating to online multiplayer. According to the Steam website major changes include:
  • Server browser downloads 100 entries instead of 500 in a chunk this makes the Cancel button more responsive
  • Fixed crash during server browser refresh
  • Low-level networking library switched back to the optimized version (the game client was temporarily running with one that had more debugging logic in it)
  • Localization fixes in the scoreboard
  • Server browser ping handling code modified
The update is now available by restarting your Steam client and presumably via the regular in-game updater as well if you roll that way.

Unfortunately there's no redistributable patches for BC2 at the moment so we can't offer an AusGamers download mirror, although hopefully that will change in the future as the game matures and patches become less frequent and more comprehensive.
