At the Mobile World Congress, being held at the moment in Barcelona, Microsoft unveiled integration for their forthcoming smart phone, Windows Phone 7, that will see users able to access Xbox Live accounts as well as Zune and Bing. You'll also have full 'live' Avatar accessibility, with the phone displaying live tiles that change and update in real-time.
"With Xbox Live if you want to play with your friends, we make that super easy, even though they're on a PC and you're on a phone," said VP of Microsoft Mobile Communications, Andrew Lees. "These things all work in an integrated way across screens, so the phone supports your digital life much more completely."
The phone was officially unveiled at the event and will clearly directly compete with Apple's iPhone, and having such integration as Xbox Live and Zune is a step in the right direction thanks to a massive install-base. It was also revealed Microsoft would be launching the phone in Q4 2010, though no specific mention of Australia made its way out of the address.
