A demo of Operation Flashpoint: Rising Dragon has been released, offering a glimpse at the latest title in the OFP series.
In the Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising PC demo, gamers take on the first full mission, Dragon Rising, in single player or co-operative multiplayer. As part of a Special Forces squad inserting behind Chinese PLA lines, players must eliminate a strategically critical radar station and missile sites to allow the USS Iwo Jima, carrying the main USMC battalion, to safely approach the island of Skira. Gamers experience Operation Flashpoint's uniquely tactical combat, achieving their objectives on their own initiative, deploying realistic weaponry and engaging advanced AI who act and react in real time using authentic tactics. Players can take on the mission in a range of difficulty modes, including Hardcore where HUD visual aids are stripped out for the ultimate test of their combat skills.
You can download the demo locally from AusGamers right now.

trog, i suspect you know that ArmA 2 is the real sequel in the OFP series which was and still is developed by BIS.

Codemasters who distributed OFP only own the name OFP 2 and its thier 1st game that theyve produced with that title. Not even close to OFP/ArmA 1/ArmA2 gameplay which is pc only and not simple cross platform crap.

Go visit Bohemia Interactive Studios to find OFP's developer and the players that played OFP.

Agreed, this fell way short of its legacy. Arma all the way.

yep, I do know that! But this is still the "Operation Flashpoint" brand, and thus it gets the props for that.

From what I've heard ArmA2 smokes this all over the place anyway.

Yeah very disappointed in OFP2 more like Ghost Recon on a bigger scale.
Arma 2 although AI is still a bit buggy is more true to the original roots that got it to where it is today & alot more like a military sim then what OFP2 gives itself credit for.
Still a good game finished it in a couple of days though.

Yes Arma 2 has plenty of servers I play it online almost every night.

Yeah cool trog, i get your drift.
I knew OFP2 wouldnt be in OFP/ArmA 2's class but i was still looking forward to it for something different as i also played CS, CoD, Bf series for a while and then the MW2 pc desertion was cruel :(

I only play on a pc so i reckon,
ArmA 2 - if you feel the need for something closer to a sim this is it. If you need my help youll find me at OGN ArmA 2 forum when OGN gets back on line at TSN ISP. Snots[APS]
OFP 2 - fizzog
MW2 - fizzog , great marketing though on the back of MW
BFBC - hopefully EA can see the growing pc game market potential as people bore of simple consoles.
etc.

This game is fragging terrible. Do yourself a favour and don't buy it on PC. Console might be a different experience.

p.s., long-time OFP GOTY 1998 and ArmA, ArmA II lover here
