Walt Disney Pictures have finally debuted a theatrical trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the big budget Jerry Bruckheimer production based on the classic videogame franchise.
A rogue prince (Jake Gyllenhaal) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (Gemma Arterton) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time -- a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. Directed by Mike Newell ('Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire') with a cast that includes Sir Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina.
Of the multitude of video-game film adaptations currently in the oven, this one sure looks to have the best shot at producing something worth watching. If nothing else, the environments are looking absolutely stunning. Check out the embed from Myspace below.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is due in Aussie theatres on May 27 2010.
Looks good but I couldnt help laughing seeing western faces portraying middle eastern characters. Sort of like a remake of King Arthur but King Arthur is a Japanese samurai
Doesn't look too bad but Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't seem right. He doesn't seem like a lead role to me. The way he delivers his lines seems way to acted but I guess we'll soon find out.
yeah the cast sucks.. need more authentic actors eg that guy from Mummy as Greazy said.. otherwise looks pretty awesome.. this reminds me heaps of the Lord of the rings somehow... Anyone else get this??
Sadly, it reminds me of The Scorpion King in execution and X-Men Origins: Wolverine in terms of its overuse of visual effects. Fingers crossed, though.
Fehr's a relatively unknown actor, with a budget that big and suits being what they are, it doesn't surprise me they'd cast Gyllenhaal in the lead. As it stands though, I think he suits the character tbh. I agree with thoughts on the princess though (British accent, wtf?).
Totally should have cast Emmanuelle Chriqui as the princess instead though.

Trailer looks pretty amazing. Like they might actually manage to pull it off for once.

Princess should have been someone more eastern.
Movie is going to be average, mostly brought down by the actors not really portraying the characters correctly. Mark my words.
