We are about to drop offline for some scheduled maintenance (some boxes are being moved to an all-new rack).

Apologies for any inconvenience. I recommend Vector Tower Defense to get you through these tough times.

Update: Oh yeh, this is all finished now. Thanks!

It was a major change that required a lot of hauling of equipment around; doing it in the middle of the day meant the guys doing it (Jim and ara) didn't have to massively inconvenience themselves to make it all happen in the middle of the night or in the wee hours of the morning.

how the hell does ausgamers function with that turd floating about the network?
Jim

ara has been an integral part of the functioning of our infrastructure for nearly as long as we've been operating - he is a cainer

and yeh the work was done during the day because it was supposed to be a much shorter outage and we didn't think it warranted overnight work plus we needed resources provided by the data centre (re-provisioning switch ports from one rack to another). unfortunately they had issues configuring their end thus the extended downtime. no major complaints from me though, we've been in the old racks for several years now with very little downtime at all from the datacentre/network end which is even more noteworthy given that it was sponsored by Comindico/Soul for all that time

Glad to see the forum is back up again. I went to work at 2pm and was worried that it was still down.

I think in future server maintenance should start around 4am and finish by 7:30am.

haha greasy you're a newb if you didn't know ara was the mad cainer running most of the infrastructure here!

also this outage didn't impact me as I was at the cricket watching the Aussie win, so carry on with the outages
