Telltale Games and Lucasarts have announced a joint project to bring some new life to the classic Monkey Island universe - Monkey Island Tales, a 5 chapter series of games:
Telltale's Tales of Monkey Island brings the adventures of pirate Guybrush Threepwood into a new era with an explosive storyline that becomes deeper and more entangled during the course of the five-episode saga. While battling his nemesis, the evil pirate LeChuck, Guybrush accidentally unleashes an insidious voodoo pox that threatens to transform the buccaneers of the Caribbean into unruly pirate monsters. Players will experience the humor, romance, and swashbuckling action the Monkey Island games are famous for and unravel an insidious plot which is revealed across the course of the series.
Tales of Monkey Island will be coming out on PC and WiiWare on or around July 7 (hopefully for Aussies too), so stay tuned!

Not only that, but there's a remake of the original Monkey Island on the cards - the Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition. The E3 trailer is now available, so take a look!

Remains to be seen if the new MI is as epic as what #3 was. Also besides cleaner graphics will the original have anything else added like Voice Overs?

Lucasarts ... new life ... five-episode saga ... remake of the original Monkey Island ... Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition

Would you guys suggest this game to someone who's knew to Monkey Island games?

Dear god yes. Everyone should play Curse of Monkey Island (#3 in the series) as it's 1 of the greatest games in the history of games. The story is surprisingly fresh (none of this save the world s***), the art style is wonderful, puzzles are so well thought out and to top it all off, the humor is the best you will ever find in a game (Murry the demonic skull. Nuf said). Wether or not they can duplicate that in #5 remains to be seen.

thanks I have to check this out. Xbox or emulator though?

1 and 2 are old games so you'll need an emulator to run them. 3 is a normal windows game and pretty sure it runs on even vistass just fine

I got a boxset a 6-7 years back for $30 from Harvey Normans.

Monkey Island 1, 2.
Day of the Tentacle.
The Dig
Sam and Max
Full Throttle

Throw in Monkey Island 3 + Grim Fandango and you're set for a few years :D

Really miss the genre, kids these days.

I'd gladly trade all the halo games and metal gear solid games for another monkey island game on the same level as what CMI was. Kids these days indeed. No idea what a good game is all about.

It's alive and kicking on the DS Chub. Get one.

I liked the recent sam and max games, so the new monkey island might be ok... but i watched the trailers of the monkey island remake and it just looked like a cheap budget game, did not look worth it at all. (I played the original monkey island games)

Pretty sure ScummVM will play the MI games just fine.

Holy f*****g s***. That's awesome (even though it's episodic crud). Now I just need a new Spacequest, Leisure Suit Larry (with Al Lowe on board) and one of the old Myth like games to come out and I'll be a happy man.
