Ohhhh yeah! Set to be released November the 17th this year!

Set for release on November 17, the title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaw, frying pan, axe, baseball bat, and more.

Introducing the AI Director 2.0, L4D's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.

Featuring new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch

I'm actually very glad they went this route cause no matter how many times they update TF2, it doesn't get me back into it cause the gameplay is still just the same old.. I'll fire it up to see what the fuss is about with Jarate etc etc then I quit after 5 min :/

Yeah it looks cool but I'm pissed it's not DLC for the current game, I bought L4D assuming it'd have the content support TF2 has had, so far we've only had 1 new survivor map, adding versus mode to 2 existing map isn't really an add-on.

Whenever someone talk about a left 4 dead 2 game in development, I would think how silly they must be to believe that valve would be announcing a sequel to a game (of this type) that's just 6 months old.
I quite surprised that they aren't just adding these melee features, new survivors and maps in as updates or a purchasable expansion.
A very odd decision, that may very well leave the first game a ghost town or divide the community. I don't think I like this very much, seems like a blatant money grab, which is very un-valve like.

On a similar note, Chet noted that they were discussing including the original four Left 4 Dead campaigns with Left 4 Dead 2. The thinking is that this would make things easier for consumers. After all, if you and your buddies are playing Left 4 Dead 2 and you all want to play a campaign from the original game, it's an incredibly annoying and disruptive hassle to have everyone quit Left 4 Dead 2 and start Left 4 Dead if you're on a PC, or swap out the Left 4 Dead 2 disc for the Left 4 Dead disc if you're on an Xbox 360. User feedback would probably help sway Valve, so make sure to let the company know what you think. And despite the fact that Left 4 Dead 2 is a reality, Chet said that the company isn't abandoning the first game and that it has plans to support it in the future with new updates, like four-versus-four matchmaking.

I doubt anyone expected this but if this is even a fraction of how fun #1 was, i'm so buying this. From the review thingy that ctd posted it sounds like so much fun. Preload cant come fast enough.

I think I'm the only person on this forum (and possibly the world) who thinks l4d was the most over-hyped and shallow game I've ever played.

4 different zombies, 4 guns (2 of which are useless), 4 missions (which are all the same), 4 characters to choose from (which all have the same characteristics but then I guess, lol ones a gurl on the internet).

I didn't buy it because there was so little content for such a high price. The orange box made this game look like a scam.
Every time I play TF2, I almost feel like I pirated it.

l4d is pretty boring and repetitive, and i don't play it much at all, but i would buy the next rollout just for a chainsaw.

(i would also like being able to electrocute zombies mumbai-express style. is that asking too much?)

I have played L4D for more hours than I have TF2 I believe, so it makes it worth it in my opinion.. I've given up on TF2 long ago (play wars with clan mates still though) otherwise I'm still going strong with L4D, had a 3 day break due to FEAR2.

I played L4d demo and thought it was sick. Bought the game and found it it was essentially the demo with added levels. No more weapons or bad guys. Waste of money.

Just play the demo of L4D 2 and save yourself the irritation of wasteing $20 bucks.

The game was good, but the lack of content is what's holding it back.

Left 4 Dead 2 should be an expansion, not a sequel, unless Valve is planning to include far more content than the original in the game's overall package.
