Update: The date has been set as May 22st 2009 (U.S. PST) and The Meet The Spy video has found its way online.

Valve, those teasy mcteasers, have sent through word the next Class Update for Team Fortress 2 is coming soon. Well, actually it'll be made available in the "next few coming days" (no actual date has been set yet), but you can hit up their Sniper Update specific site until the update's actual release.
Like prior TF2 Class updates, the Sniper will deliver new Achievements, maps and unlockable weapons free of charge to all owners of Team Fortress 2 for the PC.
Hit this link to be escorted to the new countdown site, and stay tuned, because a "free weekend" will be coming soon too, according to our Valve sources.

ive died like once or twice by being stunned by the sandman, its a piece of s***. The only thing its good for is stunning medics who are ubered and it drops the uber from their target

robin said that its only the ragdolls that get pinned to walls etc. so if you get pinned it means you died.

Yeah, I think it's more like a "fatality" kind of thing, where if the arrow does enough damage to kill you it'll pin you to the wall.

I think the new shield is a 1 time per death type thing. If it wasn't it'd just be flat out OP toward spies and no other class. Mabye it won't even kill them outright and just take off half hp or something

the way its worded it looks like it will just stop the spies long enough so you can turn around and kill them.

if you were a competent spy you would just deliver 3 revolver shots into the snipers back thats using the shield.

the shield might work well with snipers on the front line using the huntsman

What do you sacrifice for the shield? Secondary or melee? And yes the shield can only survive one stab, and does not kill the spy - only disables his knife for a bit (and gives some damage). Not that great really.

I'd say you'd lose your knife actually, judging from the fact this shield would likely be worn on the back of the sniper and that the knife pouch currently holds that position. At least it looks like a knife pouch.

TF2 is one of the greatest multiplayer games ever created, I would drop $100 on it easy, for the current price it's absolutely criminal not to buy it.

32 player badwater, offence, tele entrance @ point 2 (spawn after you cap point 3).

Set it up instantly, stayed up for 10+ minutes, ONLY engi on a 16 player team... just cranking them through, non-stop.

People underestimate how damaging sapping entrances at spawn is :D

Zactly, this is on the shortlist of c***ish but otherwise awesome spy tactics.

Hmm, I can either stab maybe one or two heavy/soldiers before getting pummelled by sentries OR I could sneak around to the base and cause everyone spawning an additional 15-20 seconds of walking time to the front line... (maybe get a stab in on the poor engie trying to recover)

The priceless part of this is the distraction. you have 5 players running around spawn looking for you while your team is capping / defending.

It doesn't take a spy to own the tele entrance. On a few maps I can make it all the way to the spawn as Pyro if lucky. When you're a pyro and you can get behind the front line you can really ruin a few spawn waves for the other team.

Yes yes yes, that revolver is what I will use. I already try to outsnipe snipers with the existing revolver. Doesn't work very well once they know you're trying to do that though, and it does take quite a few shots because of the accuracy. This might just give me the edge and I'll finally enjoy maps like 'Well'.

He's only powerful on pub because people don't spy check enough.

There's a few players on node 14 that ONLY spy check, it's literally impossible to do any sort of damage. This one guy plays scout and spends the entire game running circles behind heavies/cart/engis and shooting every single player non-stop.

I sometimes play pyro and do the same thing if the team has 2-3 spies that are doing lots of damage.

More mics would solve the problem too.

On the subject of teleports. I never actually realised HOW useful they were.

Most maps they save the player 15 seconds or so, big maps sometimes 30 seconds.

1 player (out of 16 in my case), with a lvl 3 tele running non-stop is the same as the other 15 players having 15-30 seconds cut off their respawn time.

eg. No tele, GR stage 3 offence. 45 - 50 seconds, essentially your spawn timer is now 60-80 seconds every death, MASSIVE influence.

Which is why I RAGE when people run over my lvl 3 tele because people are lining up. It takes 50 seconds to run, or under 5 seconds to wait... do the maths dips****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep. It PISSES me off when you see 3 people lining up on a lvl 1 tele. They could jump into spawn, change to engi, get it upgraded to lvl 3 and teleport through well before the lvl 1 would have kicked in.

Same with spy sapping at spawn. If the tele is sapped, don't stand on it looking at die? WTF? Change to engi and repair it. I often see 5+ people run over a sapped tele at spawn, makes no sense at all.

If you're a class that doesn't need to setup straight away on defence (engis, meds and heavies have to run forward), upgrade the teles to lvl 3 at the start and you can still run up to the gates well before they open.

It pisses me off when you see d**** setting up turrets at the 5th cap point on badwater, when the game has just started (extreme example, but it happens).
