Following last week's release of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 demos, Ubisoft have now released a playable sample of the PC version of Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.
Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X delivers an intense and authentic aerial combat experience by fully leveraging the benefits of the next-generation platforms.

In this demo, players will dominate the skies for the first time and battle planes, tanks and amphibious assaults and have the opportunity to dogfight with other elite pilots in a stunning panoramic boss scene.
Grab it locally (~1.2GB) from the AusGamers files library.

the demo on 360 sucked balls.

It wasn't that bad, certainly different than Ace Combat 6, but certainly took some getting used to.

I agree with d0mino, it sucked balls.

Is there a PS3 demo? I wont have a 360 for another 3-4 weeks, according to Microsoft. :(

So don't waste quota on it?

Makes me sad if that's the case that it sucks. Been a while since there's been a decent air combat game on the PC (or space combat at that too).

there really does need to be a good gritty sci fi space combat game IMO.

last game i played of that ilk was Square Enixs Project Sylpheed. Great cutscenes but the gameplay onbjectives were bland as.

I'd even settle for a decent Star Wars Space sim - X-Wing Alliance was awesome, but is also seriously old. X2/X3 are kind of fun, but get kind of boring unless you're heavily into the whole Trading/money making stuff they bring to the table.

Is it too much to ask for, seriously?

i enjoyed ace combat 6 on the 360 but this hawks was way too arcadey ... the no limit mode was fun but you could only do it in 3rd person mdoe which was bizarre

very pretty game though

I didn't think it was too bad. And yes there is a PS3 demo Midda.

I pre-loaded, I should have waited

It's definately easier to get into than LO-MAC, and once you get the hang of ERS and using W and S to make tighter turns in off mode it's easy

Will make for a good comparison with a very high end machine

This thread mentions something about coop multiplayer...
"jump-in/jump-out co-op support for up to four players"

Is this like swapping seats with 3 other people after each round? :/

I think it means you can drop in or out of a multiplayer game halfway through a match (like most multiplayer games).

Have you played the demo Midda? The multi player menu seems locked and greyed out, I haven't tried escaping mid game though so maybe it comes active then

I forgot 'node has unmetered demos & stuff for download. Grabbed HAWX today - strikes me as being a fun little fly & shoot title. The 'freestyle' stuff is a little annoying, but after a couple of playthroughs of the 2nd demo mission I started getting the hang of it. Not sure I'm entirely sold on buying the full thing however - this might be a 'wait until 50% off weekend on steam' job for me.

<3 having a decent joystick to play it with though!

I found it very hard to see what the f*** was going on... all this bulls*** they added, I assume, was to make it easier to have awareness. I found it much worse than just being in a c***pit view.

So, I thought, ok, inally a reason to bust out my trusty ol Saitek X52 Joystick @ 2550 x 1600 with AA on an then I couldn't stop grinning :)

F*** Yeah!! Sure, if a real aircraft (read current) turned like that in the atmosphere it would splinterdisengrate (my new word)....

Drifting 180 degree turns then powering out of em, breaking a missile lock an then being able to just chase down something !

It's like a space combat game. Serious, it's like having reverse thrusters from ye old scii games just without aliens. Having a ball with the demo thus far...
Must suck to have a console.

Looking forward to trying out the voice command stuff with AI Wingman (same as EndWars apparently)

Going on the demo thus far, I will definately be buying this.

so on the pc you dont have to go to that crappy 3rd person view to do the tight turns?
darkjedi
Posted 08:03am 05/3/09
You do. But a joystick does make it a slight bit easier to pull off - That said, it's the only part of the game that I found put me off a little. It's a cool concept and works well enough, I just don't like that it's nigh on impossible to use guns or even fly that easily when you're in that mode.

I really enjoyed the demo on 360, the third person view was a bit disorienting at first, especially since its not a view from behind you but some weird skewed view, I thought my camera was broken at first. But once I got used to it I really enjoyed it and like hermi said, the dogfighting is awesome fun, pulling off all sorts of bulls*** maneuvers to get the guy in your sights and nail him was pretty satisfying.

Do Steam have a preload locally but the game remains locked system? Doesn't seem to work that same way as FP, must have to wait for the release date as in My Games it's saying 'Not released yet'

The street date on H.A.W.X has been broken - Just in EB toowong who confirmed it's available, a whole day early.

Is that just the PS3/X360 release?
darkjedi
Posted 02:16pm 05/3/09
All 3 I beleive - EB Toowong wouldn't let me pre-order the PC version as they can sell it now.
trillion

doubt it on the PC version unless you eyeballed the dvd
