We've got the opportunity to interview the Age of Conan development team over at FunCom, and rather than just ask the same old stuff, I figured we'd throw this open to the MMO crowd. I know a lot of people out there got into Age of Conan for a short bash before getting a bit disillusioned by the lack of content, so I'm hoping people who live and breathe MMOs might be able to help us out here with asking some actual serious questions about the future direction of the game - what might make you come back and try it again?
Let us know by posting in the comments and we'll pass on the questions and see if we can come back with some good news!

If they replied they fixed it, point out no-one plays it anymore so no-one knows.
Combos, why were "combos" password protected abilities rather then the traditional combos of say Street fighter or Mortal Combat ? The system was silly but had potential.
If they replied it's fixed now ... again point out no-one plays it so no-one knows.
Probably not a good way for an interview to progress. But the game had a fair ammount of potential and was ruined by the worst launch since Anarchy Online (interestingly I think that was a Funcom effort). It had awesome music, awesome art, a great lore to use, heaps of cool ideas.
The underlying system wasn't real good however, eg. stopping to use an ability because of the animation.

That's probably the main one anyone who tried it would like to know.
Answer is most likely publishers said NOW NOW NOW and they had little say in the matter.

Who's bright idea was it to try to compete with WoW and are they still employed?

In the same way that Counterstrike is like Quake ...

id also like to know there thoughts on what went wrong as far as there launch and loss of players.
and given the fact they reduced the number of servers what are there proposals are for keeping players and introducing new ones.
personally i loved the game and thought it was great, it had flaws but i was willing to stick em out... if everyone else hadnt of quit of me id still be playing... but when all my friends left the game was just empty.

That being said, all I had really was a level 17 sorc which I levelled 90% through PVP battlegrounds.
The game reminded me quite a bit of neverwinternights in terms of mechanics..... I hope the make some okay coin from it cause I wouldn't say the game is a failure and personally I'm not into supporting the whole wow thing THAT much. A lot of people who play WoW see it as the only mmorpg, but a lot of it and the way the game is designed is really quite a joke.
Holy f*** I typed a lot in 20 seconds

Yes, how horrible it would be to have an MMO that's incredibly fun and enjoyable to play.

And I don't think they could have a single server for games like this, they just can't be as astronomically big as Eve, because you have to walk, ride etc etc everywhere. Eve can do it because it's just like having 100s of Westfalls or similar. Also, every system is pretty much a conglomeration of variables i.e. This system has x stations, y asteroid belts, z moons etc etc with "this" type of space. Not a lot of rendering going there, and they're literally millions of kms apart, so they don't have to render it all at once. The cool thing is you can go anywhere in those millions of square kilometres, but it looks pretty much like any other area of space in that system, but it's just coordinates on a massive plane.
ps - eve fanboi also.

Wrong game Deeper :p This thread's about Age of Conan, the one where you played the overpowered healing class with lightning spells.

ToS on, they were so much cooler before they nerfed their pbae to hit a max of like 3 players :x dumbest pbae ever!

There's two real reasons that Eve Online can have a single server but most other MMOs can't.
#1: Eve doesn't deal with as many agents/objects at once as most MMOs. Most MMOs have hundreds of agents/objects that need to be monitored in any given zone - and they do this poorly.
#2: Eve selected a concurrency model that works well for this kind of product. Most other MMOs try very hard to do follow traditional concurrency models that have real performance issues when you start dealing with thousands of concurrent objects.
