MTV have a vaguely
interesting interview with id Software's John Carmack talking about some of the things they have on their plate at the moment, looking at cross-platform development of Rage (PS3 is a bit slower, Xbox 360 version will be multiple discs), Carmack's interest in the Wii, Wolfenstein RPG coming for the iPhone (and possibly Quake 3), digital distribution and a snippet on Doom 4 and Wolfenstein.

Rehashing the brands for alternate platforms is just a moneyspinner. Obviously they keep doing it because people keep buying it. By all reports that Wolf RPG thing on mobile was actually a pretty good mobile game (though not being a giant mobile-game playing newb I wouldn't bother trying it myself).

Doom 3 wasn't a spectacular game, but I still don't understand everyone's obsession with Valve and Half Life.
I found Half Life 2 to be even more boring than Doom 3, though I must say Episodes One and Two were much more enjoyable for some reason.
