
Valve Software sends word that the promised content update and patch for Team Fortress 2 is now available from Steam, offering the new Gold Rush map, a unique items system and new medic-centric achievements.
Accompanying this release, is the announcement that Team Fortress 2 will be free to download and play for anyone wanting to check it out this weekend, commencing Friday May 2 at noon PDT (5am Saturday AEST).
The worldwide Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend will include access to the new content released today in the TF2: Gold Rush Update. Using the functionality made available through Steam and Steamworks, all of the files needed to join the Free Weekend are available for pre-loading now.
The Free Weekend is open to players around the world, and there is no obligation to purchase to participate; all that is needed is a Steam account to join.

Went in and started critting the f*** out of med only teams and everyone started crying, some of the servers the admins actually kicked/banned me for shooting people.
EDIT: BTW I see that a lot of achievements I already have from my pre-patch medic.
Like I got over 1 million heal points from my 25 hours of medic... I'm glad these stupid s*** c**** that never played medic beforehand will never get this achievement :)

Only had 2 medics out of a team of 12, was slauuuughter.
I give it 24 hours before it returns back to normal, someone just got the ubersaw before after farming hard, gave it a few hits then went back to soldier.

How many of the achievements do you already have?
Obviously most wouldn't have been retro-applied as the code wouldn't have been in place to detect the events prior to this patch, which is expected. Just wondering which are passed on from the pre-patch times.

I'm not doing it, I prefer to earn my weapons... that includes through gameplay, not "farming".
Gameplay regressed to the retarded state with all the people coming home from work to the update... it'll cool down eventually.
EDIT: On other notes..
Gates in granary = pretty gay, stop trying to balance every map valve.
Someone that got the crit uber legit kept using it on me as a heavy though at the center point... constant heavy crit = pure RAPE.

Before this patch tf2 was still at its core a prettied up version of tfc which isn't all that bad. Now valve have tried so hard to appease with this bs weapon unlock thing its really detracted from the original good fun tf I remember of yester year.

Crit uber gun = the win, coolest addition so far, had many epic LOL's/battles so far. Good thing about this is it turns the Scout / Engi or a Heavy/Soldier out of ammo into a force still rather then a waste of an uber.
Uber saw? I still think it's a bit overpowered, need to slow down the fire rate more /reduce damage more Valve.

I don't think i'll bother with the medic achievements anymore, had a good 2ish hours worth of mucking around with the new weapons, and while they have their merits the only worthwhile one is the new bonesaw...getting 1/4 uber per hit is excellent but not worth spending weeks trying to unlock bulls***

- I've joined a steam friends server and deployed and uber on him = nothing
- Ubered two people at once (uber on one, then click onto another) = nothing
- Ubered 10+ steam friends = nothing

They could have actually been intelligent about it and:
1. Reset stats of people who had 39/39 achievements (impossible to achieve in 24 hours+)
2. Reset stats of people who had all weapons unlocked, but not all achievements*
(+ = unless you're a f***head with no life, you deserve the reset anyway :P)
(* = that's what unlock_all did as opposed to manually unlocking each, right?)
Then you'd have a handful of people who unlocked only a couple of achievements manually, but not all. The number should be low enough to ignore :)

In a team of 12 with 6 medics, hardly any of them were healing anyone useful, they just huddled around spawn and got ubers up and wasted them. :/
