LucasArts and Activision Australia today announced the worldwide release date's for the forthcoming Star Wars epic, The Force Unleashed.An entirely new chapter in the Star Wars Saga, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The game’s expansive story is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist Vader in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi – and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.The US will see the game launching on September 17, Australia September 18 and Europe September 19. One thing I really didn't like though was that all the Force effects are accompanied with a little magical graphical swirl. Instead of just using the Force it looks too much like you're casting spells, which I found a little disconcerting.
Aside from that it looks pretty neat as a 3rd person action/adventure. It certainly looks cool to be the bad guy using the Force; one of the cool things shown was picking up storm troopers and throwing them through the air into the path of oncoming TIE fighters.
